I sat down to work today.
Opened my laptop.
Checked my messages.
Tried to focus.
And then I thought about Venezuela.
About the families who lost everything.
About the people still trying to make sense of what happened.
About how strange it feels to keep moving through a normal day when your country is hurting.
My family is safe, and I’m grateful for that.
But when you love a place so deeply, a part of you hurts too.
I’ve realized that staying strong isn’t moving on or pretending we’re okay.
It’s choosing to keep going so we can continue helping, praying, donating, and supporting from wherever we are.
Canada has become home, and I will always be thankful for the life I’ve built here. But my roots are in Venezuela, and when Venezuela hurts, I hurt too.
So today, I’m giving myself permission to feel both things at once: gratitude for where I am, and heartbreak for the place that raised me.
And I’m holding on to hope that one day, our country will heal. 🇻🇪🤍
