This week’s track pick is Shadows (Original Mix) by 𝓚𝖆𝖘𝖊𝔂 𝕽𝖎𝖔𝖙 + Sarah Barrable-Tishauer | Me Time released on Quack Squawk Honk as part of the Feminine Rage project.

The project represents the anger and oppression that fem/queer individuals and marginalized communities experience under the patriarchy, and “Shadows” takes that conversation inward. Sarah Barrable-Tishauer | Me Time describes the track as being written during the Year of the Snake, a period of intense shedding and shadow work for the Bass Witch Coven . The track explores confronting the parts of ourselves we’ve been taught to hide — jealousy, shame, martyrdom and perfectionism — and recognizing how patriarchal systems can pit women against one another as competition.

What really resonates with us about this track is where that conversation ultimately leads: when we face our own shadows, we stop seeing each other as enemies and start building networks of support. That message of community, inclusion and collective power feels especially important in music and nightlife, where creating space for different voices and experiences is a big part of building a stronger electronic music community.

Dreaming of playing in Amsterdam during Amsterdam Dance Event? Here’s your chance.

We’re looking for talented women DJs and producers to join the lineup for our Ladies I Admire (LIA) Showcase, presented by Modern Agenda Play Productions and MEANING OF LIFE EVENTS INC. Expect a soundtrack of Progressive, Melodic House & Techno, Afro House, Organic House, and more.

To enter: Submit a 30–60 minute DJ mix for your chance to perform. The selected artist will receive an approximately 45–60 minute set (TBD), and the winning mix will be featured on Amber Long’s LIA Playlist on SoundCloud.
