⚠️ Online Childcare Safety – Friendly Reminder ⚠️
I wanted to share a quick safety reminder for parents and caregivers using online childcare platforms.
As a professional nanny with over 20 years of childcare experience, I’ve had profiles on sites such as CanadianNanny.ca, Care.com, and NannyServices.com. These platforms can be helpful, and there are many genuine families and caregivers using them.
That said, I’ve personally noticed an increase in messages that raise red flags, including:
• Requests to move conversations off the platform
immediately
• Pressure to communicate via personal email or messaging apps
• Offers of unusually high or “too good to be true” pay
• Vague job details or reluctance to verify identity
While these platforms do have reporting tools (which I use), I felt it was important to raise awareness so families and caregivers stay cautious.
💡 Safety reminders for parents & caregivers:
• Keep communication within the platform until identities are verified
• Be cautious of unusually high pay offers
• Ask for references and conduct interviews (in person or video)
• Trust your instincts — if something feels off, pause and reassess
This is not meant to discourage anyone from using these sites — just a reminder to stay vigilant and informed. Protecting families and caregivers is always the priority.
Stay safe 💛
