🌾👩‍🌾 Happy "Belated😅 " International Women's Day! 👩‍🌾🌾

Although I'm a little late with posting, I still wanted to take a moment to honor the incredible women who are shaping the future of agriculture, breaking barriers, and making a difference in this industry every single day. 🌱💪

From the planting of seeds at the beginning of the season, to harvesting the final crops, women have been at the heart of farming for generations, and their hard work often goes unnoticed. But not on International Women's Day. We celebrate YOU!

I also want to give a special shout-out to the amazing women who have helped me on my farm—whether it's lending a hand during the busy seasons in the garden, at the farm stand, keeping things going behind the scenes, offering advice, or inspiring me with their passion and resilience. Your strength, dedication, and love for agriculture make all the difference. 💚

Let's continue to uplift, support, and empower women in agriculture and every field, because when women thrive, we all thrive. ✨

01/15/2025

Emerging from a very busy 2 month hiatus of this space, but not quite hibernation; seed orders have mostly all arrived. The grow shelves have been cleared of the accumulated clutter and dust. I signed up for quick books online, which I am currently in the process of inputting info for last year and figuring out systems to implement for this year to stay up to date on administrative bookkeeping tasks. I've also signed up for square and am trying (struggling) to build a (very basic) website to be able to offer 2025 summer bouquet subscriptions, DIY wedding buckets, event booking info, and gift cards. I will have a portable square reader for debit/credit payment on delivery (this will be very limited as I'm not yet available to do regular deliveries), as well as for pop-up events, etc. This is all in addition to mothering a now 15m old child, being primary caretaker for my terminally ill father, participating as a cohort member in "The Exchange Program" with The NFU, doing coursework for Floret's online workshop, crop planning, household management & maintenance, 2 dogs, 14 chickens, and my own health issues. It's a lot! I do have help, though, and I am ever grateful for the love & care of friends and family.

This season in the garden will also look very different as I'm going to grow significantly more flowers and less food than I have since I started gardening. It's very hard to see harvested produce go to waste when you're too busy to process it! When you can't get to the flowers, the bees will, and then the seeds can be harvested to do it all again. Despite the trials & tribulations life throws at me, I remain persistent. Flowers fill me with so much joy, and that is something I love sharing with my community. The garden is a place of solace for me, a salve for grief, and where I feel at play.💓

We're halfway through winter now, on the other side of the Solstice, watching the shadows grow shorter each week while the day slowly lengthens. It's been colder this this year than the few past winters - this is great for pest pressure and builds ever more anticipation for the returning warmth 🙌 🌞

Keep an eye out for an announcement post of 2025 offerings! 🌼 🌸 🌻

An order of four jar arrangements for a customer who loved the one she picked up from the stand last Sunday! 💕💐✨️

Flowers will only be available on Saturdays & Sundays both here at the home stand and until frost. I'm considering doing some winter arrangements or something along those lines, but with driving a school bus (finally got a new route with a new company!) and having a one year old baby with low sleep needs, my time is very limited. We shall see what I'll be able to manage in this next chapter, but lots of plans for 2025 already brewing; I'm going to finally complete the scholarship course I attained 2 years ago that pregnancy and then said new baby took priority over. My daughter is forever my number one priority, but I think I'll be able to dedicate her unpredictable naptimes to my coursework and farm planning over the winter.

Thank you, everyone, for all of your support this season! It has been a long time in the making, and I'm so happy I finally took the plunge and started trying to seriously sell the fruits & flowers of my labor 🥰

Only jars available today at the home stand 1957 17th Line, Lakefield On. They have loads of amazing pumpkins and delicious, naturally grown & local produce to cook up for dinner and stock the fridge.
