It’s Monday and that time again to give you my top reasons to elope! 🙌🏽

One major thing I always noticed when photographing big weddings was how the bride and groom barely get any time together. Now don’t get me wrong, after the ceremony they are together for the rest of the evening, however with a ton of guests surround them at all times. It is rare for couples to take any time to themselves without the pressures of returning or without feelings of guilt.

When you choose to elope, you are choosing a day of presence and choosing literally the best, most present day ever! Your whole day is planned around the two of you being together, not apart. Being present. Creating beautiful memories🙌🏽

We eloped before we elope 😂 for real though!

Every time I have a free consultation with a new couple, I always tell the story about how we eloped BEFORE we eloped! Sounds insane but here’s the story…. We were planning on doing a small ceremony with just immediate family at our special beach spot only 10 minutes from our house. I had started to get so much anxiety about the ceremony and basically for the fact that we both really dislike public speaking. Even though it was only in front of both of our immediate families. It just started to feel like more and more of a thing and was getting louder and louder so we said ‘screw it!’ and had our sweet little ceremony a few days before our actual elopement date. The best part was we surprised our Moms… they legit had no clue!

It seemed insane at the time, however it also seemed just perfect and became part of our story. There was truly no better way for us to finally get married! Once our actual elopement date came around, we were so relaxed and my brother married us… I wasn’t tripping over my words and having an out of body experience hahah my mind literally turns to mush when I have to public speak. I really really wanted to be able to sink into the moments that we got married without having to actually listen to what was going on. It was definitely the way to go for us!

You can literally do whatever the hell you want for your elopement! It is 100% about you! I would even do it differently if we were to do it all over again, however it was also pretty darn perfect!

J&M’s elopement was so beautiful, intimate and sweet. And despite some HUGE last minute changes in venue, they went with the flow and we developed a new plan in record time! They were such a joy to work with!🤩

You can literally wear whatever the hell you want! For real!

I had a couple come to the island all the way from Kansas to elope. They brought all their wedding attire with them through airports and ferries and car rentals. The day before their elopement, it snowed and snowed and snowed. So they said screw it and went into town and got full snow gear! They chose warmth and comfort over tradition and fashion! I really loved that they did what worked for them. And yes they still looked super amazing in all their snow gear!!
