World feels heavy. I’ve needed a break but nothing heals like dirt on my hands and the promising shades found in a flower petal. Love you 💓💓
Also ty to the woman who recognized me at fabricland yesterday for my work!!!!! It feels like this app is a void and when someone breaks through like that it feels like there is potential for connection.

put this shoot together last summer and rallied a team of eco vendors to work their magic. It was a pleasure to work alongside other creatives that have worked diligently to question how to exist in an industry that is riddled with over consumption and harmful earth practices. ALWAYS 100% LOCAL ALWAYS. We are going into our 5th year with our commitment to being 100% local, no dyed or bleached botanicals, no floral foam, no feathers. While we watch climate collapse there is simply no other way for us to exist in this industry. What’s the big deal? ✨Hint ✨ it’s not JUST about the climate👇
🐌 Import flowers are treated with chemicals that degrade the soil, harm farmers (think chronic disease and death), harm other than human beings, & recent research has proven that florists handling import flowers absorb the chemicals into their bodies (even while wearing nitrile gloves), increasing their risk of cancer.
🐌 Import flowers are ALWAYS wrapped in plastic. Every 10 flowers are wrapped with non recyclable cellophane. An average 5k wedding includes about 500+ stems of blooms.
🐌 Quite obviously, buying imports DRASTICALLY increases your carbon footprint, effectively uplifting big oil & billionaires.
🌞 Working with local flowers allows me to build tighter relationships with growers and gives me a better chance at understanding their growing practices, struggles, and working conditions. It allows me to invest in local ecosystems and local economies. It allows me to be in relationship and operate within capitalism in a less extractive way.

When you choose me you are investing in q***r owned businesses. When you choose me you are investing in local economies. When you choose me you are allowing me to work on my eco home.

A + A : from April when the willow was just starting to green up . Brian ( ) always always always. I love the way you capture people, flowers, the half eaten dishes, the flowers dancing in front of faces, and all of those in between moments where life lives. I loved this gallery. I loved the challenge of a 100% local wedding in April. As I’ve grown into my practice with wedding flowers I’ve challenged myself to step into the space of shoulder seasons where I can’t always be 100% certain on what flowers I’ll be able to use. I have to remain confident in my skills as a designer, my relationships with wholesalers/growers that I’ve invested in over years, and my understanding that the garden always has something beautiful to provide. Thank you for your trust A/A, it was a pleasure.
