Shello my fishes! It's been a while. I'm still mermaiding, but the motivation to keep posting regularly drained out VERY quickly. Editing pictures is something I can only handle when the particular hyperfocus strikes me, and editing videos? SO much worse. With IG and FB's shift toward video content... There's no way I can produce enough content to engage the algorithm, so I gave that up.

I'm now primarily engaging in a form of content creation I can keep up with—Twitch! I stream every Wednesday night, doing creative building in ARK: Survival Evolved with a few other games mixed in, often with mermaid aesthetics. I also have a Discord community with a dedicated Pod Community channel category. Real-time engagement with my audience, as we laugh and chat and share stories—that is the content I can create.

And I think I'm pretty good at it! I made Twitch Affiliate within my first year, anyway, and I'm delighted to see familiar names reappearing in chat, becoming beloved friends. Please do swim by and wave a fin! There's a link in my bio, or you can simply search "MermaidMaria" on Twitch.

But in the meantime, it occurs to me that not having the motivation to produce enough content to get boosted by the algorithm doesn't mean my pages have to have crickets chirping in the silence; it just means the pressure is off and I should simply post on my own time. There's been many wonderful mermazing adventures happening in the last year or so, with more to come, so... Maybe you'll see a few go by!

Beautiful but deadly—and this video is just so bizarre to me.

“Yeah these things can kill you if you touch them, I always keep a layer of sand between them and my skin so they can’t sting me. Try not to touch them at all.” *proceeds to spend the rest of the video touching them without visible sand between them and his skin.*

*shows something on his finger* “yeah this is sometimes mistaken for a jellyfish. It causes skin irritation, don’t touch it.”

My dude. You’re not doing a very good job of following your own advice.

A couple weeks ago I received my first ever Mertailor Fantasea Fin: a custom coloured Three with gorgeous colourshift! I also unboxed my latest package from Mermaid Straw! I finished editing the unboxing today and here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Twitch's highlighter feature is imprecise at best and has a nasty habit of dropping extra sound with every cut, so it's definitely not the cleanest edit ever. I hope you enjoy regardless!

Happy birthday, Adria! ❤ love you lots and can’t wait to see you next

Happy birthday to the gorgeous galaxy mermaid Adria!

Adria is such a beautiful and kind soul, and I'm so glad that mermaiding has brought us together. She joined the SOSO pod house for Mermaid Megafest 2019 and was cheerfully and aggressively inducted into the pod, despite living rather outside our usual geographic area. Adria has since come to join us in Ontario several times, to our delight and joy. We all look forward to the hopefully near future when the borders are open and it's safe for her to return to us once more!

Adria is an inspiring example of having the courage to push the boundaries of your comfort zone to try new things, make new friends, and grow in confidence and self-esteem. I'll never forget the look on her face as she shuffled out onto the glass floor of the CN tower (which held the world record for tallest freestanding structure for over three decades, and is still the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere), screwing up her courage before looking straight down at the street 342 m (1,122 ft) below her. Adria is a shy girl who struggles a lot with anxiety, and it's been my privilege these past years to watch her putting herself out there and supporting her as she blossoms and gains confidence in herself.

Adria is the epitome of bravery, and an inspiration to us all. Happy birthday!

Happy birthday podmama! This year there are plans in the works to get her a custom-fitting monofin from Aquariuz! Mermaid makeover incoming~!

Happy birthday to the Sirens of Southern Ontario pod's MerMama!

Mum has no tail yet, because there is yet to be a monofin that can accommodate her feet (ladies size 12 is already tough to size, but even the large Mahina doesn't fit because her feet are also very tall). That doesn't make her any less a fin-tabulous mermaid!

She began her ascendance to the pod's MerMama last summer during the SOSO cottage retreat, graciously hosting the meetup and ensuring everyone was welcomed and fed. We can also all blame her for the pod's terrible addiction to the party game Telestrations After Dark!

Everyone who has met her can attest to her warm and generous heart. She is the most wonderful mother I could have asked for, and we are all incredibly lucky to have her in our lives.

Happy birthday, Mum!

Happy birthday to Ms.Faelyn the Coral Koi! I had the delight of crafting together this summer with Ms Faelyn while we were both in mythic modification hell, and I have a Powerful Need to finally swim together in our completed tails. This fish is so sweet, genuine, funny, talented… a delight to know!

GIRL we gotta do some body doubling again soon! My crafting table cries with neglect! And hey, maybe if we start crafting in October we won’t be rushing come MMC 2022?! (Hah, but what’s a con without the last-minute con-crunch, tho)
