St Pyro’s Mail is about passionate reenactors.

My name is Chris, and I have been living in the late fourteenth century for 30 years now.

Because of this, I know all too well the struggle of finding decent kit - especially when first building an impression. Not only do you need clothing, accessories, and equipment that fits the historical bill, but it needs to be well-made and long-lasting. And when you do finally find something that seems like it might last more than one season, it takes weeks or even months to get it, the shipping costs are generally outrageous, and then when you finally do receive it you also get a bill for the import duties that can add an eye-watering amount to your final cost.

We know that Canadians deserve a local source for high-quality, research-backed medieval goods, so we decided to make exactly that. Really looking forward to trying these out next reenactment season!
Cooking – proper cooking – over a campfire is a real joy, even though it can sometimes take a lot of work and planning.

Systems - like time, date, and money - were vastly complicated in the late Middle Ages. They were complicated because so many different regions had their own versions, such that money really had value primarily because of its weight of metal, while the date could vary by as much as a year between cities in places like Italy.
Do you find our modern systems better, or would you rather that your home region have its own time, date, and money?
