Earlier this summer, a little roll reversal took place (for the most part), instead of serving as the planner/manager of a client's event, I became the Guest of Honour at my own bridal shower. Outside of knowing that the theme for my shower was vintage "Parisian Café", my mom, future mother-in-law and bridal party did a very good job of keeping most of the other details a complete surprise from me... until it was time to set-up at least.
Instead of favours, which tend to get tossed in the bin, or left behind, my mom wanted a flower bar, so that each guest could take home a small bouquet. As an event planner, this is where I come in again. A few days before my shower, my mom and I took a trip to the city to walk through the cooler at FIG Import Group, where we met with my fabulous account manager Connie! Connie is so knowledgeable and so helpful when it comes to getting you what you want.
The day before my shower, while my mom, my nephew, my mom's best friend and her granddaughter, were busy in the kitchen preparing an assortment of French entrements, tart aux fruits, quiche, salads, croissants, fresh fruit and vegetable platters, my Man of Honour and I, were hard at work sorting through the bins of décor my mom supplied (plus some additions from my own collection), and getting everything set-up. When you love the design and set-up aspect of event planning, it's really hard to sit this part out, even when you are the Guest of Honour.
I'm so pleased with how this shower came together and so grateful to have such loving families, and groups of friends in my life. 🙏
