Here's a glimpse into an intimate 40th anniversary celebration, planned and designed by Lake and Vine Event Co.

Did you know that a couple's 40th wedding anniversary is known as their "Ruby" anniversary? In keeping with this concept, I used lots of deep red accents to layer a bold pop of colour onto the simplicity and elegance of the all white canvas. On the tables, I used beautiful gold, embossed charger plates to add contrast and provide an anchor for the crisp, white place settings.

For the floral arrangements, made one large centerpiece to sit in front of the couple as the focal point. I then placed individual, large, deep red blossoms onto the cheesecloth runners to create a layered, monochromatic aesthetic.

For the backdrop, I kept things simple, as the setting for this event was in the backyard of a country property surrounded by agricultural fields. I added texture and dimension by using several linen-look drapery panels instead of traditional draping fabrics and heavy floral garlands. Each drapery panel was embroidered with large leaf motifs, which coordinated beautifully with the napkin rings. I felt that using leaves to anchor two design elements together was fitting, given that this event was taking place in late October.

🧀 Appetizers consisted of a charcuterie board filled with a careful selection of cured meats, cheese, and accouterments.

1️⃣ First course consisted of a homemade creamy mushroom bisque.

2️⃣ Main course consisted of a delicious array of comfort foods, including grilled pork chops, fulffy garlic mashed potatoes, maple cinnamon baked butternut squash, and glazed green beans.

3️⃣ Dessert consisted of handmade whipped lemon and elderflower flavoured ricotta filled cream puffs, and classic Italian tiramisu.

The final touch, which really set the mood for the evening and received rave reviews, was the live music that played throughout cocktail hour and dinner.
