WhiteRock ET – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What services do you provide as part of your standard DJ package?

Our standard DJ package includes:

A professional sound system with high-end audio quality

One wired microphone with stand for speeches and announcements

Ambient stage lighting (basic tier)

Access to our curated music library (lossless audio formats only—no MP3s)

Full DJ and music curation services, including coordination with your event schedule

Wireless microphone package is available as an add‑on.

2. Money‑Back Satisfaction Guarantee

We stand behind our work with a Money‑Back Satisfaction Guarantee (as defined in your DJ Service Agreement). If a material aspect of our performance falls short and cannot be corrected after you notify us during the event, we will refund up to 100% of the performance fee.

Material issue examples (non‑exhaustive): continuous equipment failure without prompt remedy; unacceptable audio quality from our system when venue power and conditions meet specs; failure to follow agreed formalities (entrances/spotlights) after timely notice.

Bad faith (summary): The guarantee does not apply to claims made in bad faith, including: refusal to let us fix issues after notice; misrepresenting facts; creating or allowing conditions that make proper performance impossible (e.g., insufficient/unstable power, denying required space, forcing use of venue gear/streaming/Bluetooth, restricting volume below bylaw/venue limits but demanding “louder”); guest interference, spills, or tampering; threatening charge-backs or negative reviews to coerce refunds.

How it works

Tell us immediately, during the event. We need a chance to fix it in real time.

If we cannot reasonably correct the issue, we will issue a refund up to 100% of the performance fee, excluding the non‑refundable booking deposit, third‑party/vendor costs, and travel/accommodation already incurred.

Exclusions: issues outside our control (e.g., venue power failures, weather, local bylaw/venue volume limits, client or guest conduct, venue equipment limitations, mandated playlists or streaming platforms, or restrictions that prevent us from operating as specified).

After the event: submit a brief written summary within 7 days so we can finalize the refund.

For full definitions, responsibilities, and anti‑abuse protections (including Bad Faith), see the Money‑Back Satisfaction Guarantee clause in your DJ Service Agreement.

3. The venue already has its own sound system and microphone. Why should I still hire a DJ?

The venue already has its own sound system and microphone. Why should I still hire a DJ? Because a sound system alone doesn’t make a celebration come alive—a DJ does.

WhiteRock ET doesn’t just play music. We craft a live, immersive experience tailored to your crowd, your energy, and your story. While a venue’s in‑house system may provide basic coverage, it lacks the dynamic control, fidelity, and professionalism that a dedicated DJ service delivers. Most venue systems and microphones are generic, outdated, and poorly tuned—designed for background use, not high‑impact events—so the quality is far inferior to the purpose‑built gear we bring.

What sets us apart

Audiophile‑grade sound systems with deep clarity and precision

Lossless audio playback — only uncompressed, high‑resolution files. No MP3s, no streaming, and no Bluetooth. Streaming platforms apply multiple layers of compression, and Bluetooth adds another lossy stage—neither is comparable to true lossless audio

Top‑tier wireless microphones engineered for clarity, range, and reliability

Real‑time crowd reading & pacing to keep energy perfect moment‑to‑moment

Live event coordination for entrances, toasts, spotlight dances, and transitions

On‑site backup gear for peace of mind

When you book WhiteRock ET, you’re choosing impact, energy, and a level of quality your guests will feel from the first song to the last dance.

4. Do you offer MC services?

Yes, MC (Master of Ceremony) services are available as an optional add-on. This includes announcements, introductions, and coordination with your planner or venue staff.

5. Is lighting included? What are the lighting options?

Basic ambient stage lighting is included in the main package. We also offer a Premium Lighting Package as an add-on, ideal for dance floors and enhanced ambience. This upgrade features compact, high-quality dance-floor lighting.

6. Can we request a custom playlist or must-play songs?

Yes—but with limits. You're welcome to submit a short list of up to 10 must-play songs (such as a first dance, entrance song, or special cultural tracks). We do not accept full client-made playlists, as knowing every song in advance removes the magic of a live DJ experience. WhiteRock ET specializes in curating a dynamic musical journey in real time, respecting your input while allowing room for spontaneity.

7. What music formats do you use?

WhiteRock ET uses only lossless, high-fidelity audio formats for unmatched sound quality. We do not use MP3s or any other compressed audio files.

8. Can we submit a Spotify playlist?

No. WhiteRock ET does not accept playlists from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, or other streaming platforms. These services are not legally licensed for public or commercial use, and their compressed audio quality is vastly inferior to our lossless playback.

9. Can we record your DJ set or share it afterwards?

No. Recording, duplicating, or distributing any part of the DJ performance or curated playlist is strictly prohibited under our Non-Disclosure Agreement and Terms & Conditions.

10. What do you require from the venue?

We require:

Safe, direct access for load-in/load-out (reserved parking or loading bay preferred)

Power: a dedicated, grounded 120V/15A circuit within 25 feet of our setup (no sharing with kitchen, refrigeration, or lighting). For Premium Lighting, a second independent 15A circuit is recommended

Clean, protected cable runs (we provide cable ramps where crossings are unavoidable)

Shelter & surface: level, dry, and protected from weather/sun for outdoor events; sturdy table or DJ booth space

Footprint: minimum 10' × 10' for the main system (more if Premium Lighting is added)

If venue power is unavailable or unreliable, only professional, pure sine‑wave inverter generators are acceptable (see the Outdoor Power/Generator FAQ below).

11. Do you provide music for multiple areas of a venue?

Yes. You can add a Secondary PA System for events that require sound in an additional space. This includes a compact Bose‑powered speaker with a built‑in mixer. A wireless microphone is not included with this setup.

12. Do you take song requests during the event?

Yes—unless the client requests otherwise, we accept song requests from guests. All requests are screened in real time to ensure they fit the vibe and don’t conflict with your must‑play or do‑not‑play list.

13. What happens if there's bad weather at an outdoor event?

Per our Inclement Weather Clause, the DJ setup must be protected from rain, wind, and direct sunlight. If weather conditions become unsafe or power is compromised, WhiteRock ET reserves the right to pause or cancel performance without refund.

14. What happens if something beyond our control cancels the event? (Force Majeure)

If a force majeure event (e.g., natural disaster, government restriction, or major emergency) prevents us from performing, both parties will be released from the agreement without liability, per our contract terms.

15. Do you require a deposit to book?

Yes. A non-refundable deposit and signed contract are required to secure your date. The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to the start of the event.

16. Are you insured?

Yes. WhiteRock ET carries liability insurance (typically $2 million) and can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) upon request. If your venue requires it, we can name the venue as Additional Insured—please provide the exact legal name and details at least 5 business days in advance.

17. How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking 6–12 months in advance, especially for weddings and dates during peak season. Last‑minute bookings are subject to availability.

18. Do you carry backup equipment?

Yes. We bring backups for critical equipment including controllers, laptops, cables, and power supplies. Our goal is 100% reliability and minimal downtime, even in the rare event of technical issues.

19. Are you insured?

Yes. WhiteRock ET carries liability insurance (typically $2 million) and can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) upon request for your venue.

20. Can we meet or chat before booking?

Absolutely. We offer a free consultation to review your vision, answer any questions, and help determine whether we’re the right fit for your event.

21. Do you require a contract?

Yes. A signed DJ Service Agreement is required for every booking. This outlines the services, expectations, legal protections, and payment terms for both parties.

22. What is your cancellation or refund policy?

All deposits are non-refundable, regardless of reason. Cancellations must be submitted in writing. Cancellations within 30 days of your event may incur the full balance due (see your Agreement for specifics).

23. What time will you arrive to set up?

Setup typically begins 90–120 minutes before the performance start time. Larger or more complex setups may require additional time. Setup and tear-down logistics will be discussed in advance.

24. Can we use your microphone for speeches or announcements?

Yes. A wired microphone with stand is included for toasts, speeches, and announcements in the main DJ area. If you prefer wireless mobility (e.g., moving around the room), a wireless microphone package is available as an add‑on. This service applies to the main DJ area; secondary locations require the Secondary PA add‑on.

25. Will you coordinate with our wedding planner or event coordinator?

Yes. We’re happy to coordinate with your planner, MC, or venue manager to ensure seamless timing and ex*****on of your event timeline.

26. How will the DJ dress at our event?

WhiteRock ET maintains a professional, clean, and stylish appearance. Our standard attire is formal or semi‑formal. For weddings and other upscale events, your DJ will generally wear a tailored designer suit. Upon request, we can tastefully coordinate color accents (e.g., tie, pocket square, shirt, or subtle suit tone) with your event palette so we complement your photos without drawing attention away from you.

If you have specific attire preferences, let us know in advance and we’ll accommodate where possible while maintaining a polished, camera‑ready look.

27. What makes WhiteRock ET different from other DJ services?

WhiteRock ET offers a premium, audiophile‑grade experience. We use lossless audio formats, professional sound systems, and high‑end wireless gear. Our commitment to legal compliance, top‑tier quality, and client‑centred service sets us apart. No gimmicks—just pure, powerful, unforgettable sound.

28. Accepted payment methods

We accept bank transfer, credit card, e‑transfer, or cash. All payment details and deadlines are outlined in your DJ Service Agreement.

29. Can you control the volume if guests feel the music is too loud?

Absolutely. We use professional‑grade systems designed to provide full and balanced sound at any volume. We are always receptive to requests regarding volume adjustments and will collaborate with venue staff to ensure comfortable levels.

30. Can we extend your DJ services if our event runs longer than expected?

Overtime extensions can be arranged based on availability. Overtime is billed at an additional hourly rate, payable at the event or immediately after. It’s best to discuss overtime possibilities in advance to ensure availability.

31. Where do you travel, and are there travel fees?

WhiteRock ET is based in Corner Brook, NL. Travel up to 100 km one‑way is included. 101–300 km one‑way is available with an additional travel fee (quoted per booking). Over 300 km one‑way is available with a higher travel fee; if a same‑night return isn’t practical or safe, the client must cover hotel accommodations and meals. Distances are measured by one‑way road distance via the quickest reasonable route.

32. Do you comply with venue sound limits and local noise bylaws?

Yes. We always comply with venue policies and local bylaws. We may use an SPL meter to monitor levels and reserve the right to reduce volume if required by management or law enforcement. Compliance‑related volume reductions are not grounds for refund.

33. Can we provide special songs that aren’t in your library?

Yes—within limits. You may submit up to 10 featured tracks not in our library, provided as legally obtained, lossless files (WAV/AIFF/FLAC, 16‑bit/44.1 kHz or higher) at least 14 days before the event. We do not accept YouTube rips, streaming links, Dropbox/Google Drive streams, or phone audio. Files are reviewed for quality before approval.

34. Load‑in, parking, elevators, and stairs

Please ensure reserved parking or loading access is available and advise us of any stairs or long carries. Venues without elevator access or with unusually long carries may require additional setup time or crew fees (quoted in advance). If paid parking, special permits, or ferry access are required for load‑in, these costs are the client’s responsibility and will be added to the invoice at cost.

35. Equipment protection & damages

The client/venue is responsible for preventing spills and guest interference around the DJ area. Drinks may not be placed on DJ tables or speakers. Damage to equipment caused by guests, venue conditions, or third parties will be billed for repair or replacement. If a spill or damage forces shutdown, time lost is not refundable.

36. Illness or emergency—do you have a backup plan?

Yes. In the unlikely event of illness or emergency, WhiteRock ET will arrange a qualified replacement DJ to perform under the same standards. If replacement is impossible, any unperformed time will be refunded.

37. When are timelines and lists due?

To ensure a seamless show, your final timeline, name pronunciations, and must‑play/do‑not‑play lists are due 14 days before the event. Changes within 72 hours are subject to feasibility.

38. Vendor meals & breaks

For events 5+ hours, a brief 15–20 minute vendor meal break is appreciated and will be taken during background music so there’s no silence. We do not consume alcohol while working.

39. Can you work with live musicians or special performers?

Yes. We frequently coordinate with bands, string quartets, and specialty acts. Please provide a tech rider in advance; additional patching/mixing fees may apply where extra inputs or monitoring are required.

40. Data privacy

Your event details and music preferences are treated as confidential and used only for planning and performance. We do not share client information or playlists.

41. Outdoor power / generators

If venue power is unavailable, only pure sine‑wave inverter generators (≥3,000W) are acceptable. Generators must be separate from catering/lighting loads and placed safely away from guests to minimize noise and fumes. We’re happy to advise on specs or provide a quote.

42. Bluetooth, guest devices, and AUX connections

For quality and legal reasons, we do not accept Bluetooth connections, guest phones, or streaming from personal devices. If a special source is truly required (e.g., a live performer’s playback), contact us 14 days in advance to approve a professional, wired connection—no phones or Bluetooth.

43. Can we reschedule our date?

Date changes are subject to availability. Where possible, your deposit may be applied to the new date per the terms in your DJ Service Agreement. Reschedules close to the event may be treated as cancellations—see your Agreement for specifics.

44. Are setup and tear-down included, and do they count toward performance hours?

Setup and tear-down are included operationally and do not count toward your booked performance hours. Your hours apply to active music/MC service only. If you require very early setup, room flips, or long idle holds outside our standard 90–120 minute setup window, additional standby/guard time may apply (quoted in advance).

45. Early setup, room flips, and idle time

When venues require gear to be set well before guest arrival (or left in place during a room flip) without active performance for over 90 minutes, we may assess a standby/guard fee to supervise equipment and ensure security. We’ll confirm this during planning so there are no surprises.

46. Do you attend ceremony rehearsals?

Yes—subject to availability as an add‑on. Rehearsal coverage is billed hourly (plus travel if applicable). It’s recommended for complex timelines, multiple speakers, or unconventional processions.

47. Special effects: haze/fog, cold sparks, confetti, CO₂

We do not provide pyrotechnics, cold spark machines, CO₂ cannons, or confetti launchers. Haze/fog may be used only with written venue approval and may be prohibited due to fire alarm systems. Client/venue are responsible for obtaining approvals and any related fees.

48. Who will be my DJ?

Your event will be performed by our lead DJ unless otherwise communicated in writing. In the unlikely event of illness or emergency, we will provide a qualified replacement DJ (see our Backup Plan FAQ).

49. Do you need Wi‑Fi or internet?

No. We do not stream audio. Our library is offline and lossless, and our system is fully self‑contained. Internet access is helpful only for logistics/communications (e.g., coordinating with vendors).

50. Music licensing and public performance rights

For Canadian events, any required public performance licenses (e.g., venue tariffs such as SOCAN/Re:Sound) are typically the venue’s responsibility. Client/venue must ensure the event is properly licensed. WhiteRock ET performs as an independent contractor and does not provide or remit venue tariff licenses. (This is general information, not legal advice.)

51. Gratuities / tipping

Tips are never expected but always appreciated. We do not add automatic gratuity unless expressly stated in your invoice/contract.

52. Invoices, receipts, and taxes

You will receive a formal invoice and receipt for all payments. Applicable taxes are added where required by law. Please retain your invoice for venue or accounting needs.

53. Quiet hours and last song timing

We’ll coordinate your last dance and ensure we end within venue quiet hours and local bylaws. If you choose to extend, it requires venue approval and may incur overtime (subject to availability).

54. What genres do you play? Are your songs clean?

We curate across decades and styles—classic hits, Top 40, pop, rock, country, R&B, hip‑hop, dance, and more—tailored to your crowd and preferences. We default to original tracks. If a song contains explicit language, the explicit version will be played unless you request clean/radio edits in advance. We always respect your do‑not‑play list and can run family‑friendly programming on request.

55. Can you provide audio for our slideshow or video?

Yes—with advance coordination. Venue A/V usually handles video playback; we can provide a professional audio feed (line‑level DI) to the venue system or accept a feed into ours if arranged 14 days in advance. Additional patching/mixing fees may apply. We do not accept phones/Bluetooth as playback sources.

56. What happens if there’s a power dip or outage?

Our system includes power conditioning and battery backup to ride out brief dips. Extended outages or unstable power are outside our control and may pause or end performance (see Force Majeure). If generator power is used, it must meet our pure sine‑wave specs (see Outdoor Power/Generators).

57. Do you create custom song edits or mashups (e.g., first dance cut-downs or transitions)?

Yes. WhiteRock ET is an inherently mashup‑forward DJ service: we blend and layer tracks live to build energy and create seamless transitions. We can also prepare specific mashups or custom edits on request—please submit your notes and lossless source files at least 14 days in advance so we can test and polish. Prefer no mashups? No problem—just tell us and we’ll play straight, full‑length tracks (with thoughtful transitions) for the entire event.

58. Can you make announcements in another language?

Our primary language is English. We can deliver brief, scripted announcements in another language if provided in writing. For full bilingual MC services, please inquire—availability varies and may be an add‑on.

59. Safety, harassment, and right to pause/stop performance

We maintain a safe, respectful workspace. If the DJ or equipment is threatened by harassment, intoxicated behaviour, illegal activity, or unsafe conditions, we will pause performance and notify the planner/venue. If the issue cannot be resolved promptly, we may end performance to protect guests and equipment. Time lost due to safety issues is not refundable (see your Agreement).

60. Privacy, media use, and testimonials

Your privacy matters. We do not post photos/video or publish playlists from your event without your explicit consent. If you’d like to provide an on‑site testimonial (subject to your comfort and venue rules), ask about our testimonial incentive during booking. NDA and confidentiality terms in your Agreement remain in full effect.

61. Audio feed for videographers / live-stream

We can provide a clean board feed (balanced XLR/¼" line level) for your videographer with 14 days’ notice. Please ensure the videographer brings any recorders/adapters they require. We do not provide streaming services; if your team is live-streaming, coordinate A/V responsibilities in advance. Additional patching/mixing may be billed.

62. Extra microphones and stands

One wired handheld microphone with stand is included in the main package. Mic stands are provided at no extra cost. Need more? Add‑ons include a wireless microphone package (1–2 handhelds with receiver), additional wired mics, a wired podium mic, and straight/boom stands (subject to availability). The Secondary PA does not include a wireless mic.

63. Planning call and final walk‑through

We recommend a planning call 2–3 weeks before your event to confirm timeline, pronunciations, cue points, and any specialty tracks. Final materials are due per FAQ #37.

64. Stage aesthetics and branding

Expect a clean, cable‑managed setup designed to blend with your décor. We display a tasteful WhiteRock ET front‑of‑table banner by default—subtle and photo‑friendly, not intrusive. If you prefer a no‑banner/minimal look, just let us know in advance and we’ll accommodate.

65. Cultural music and special traditions

We love celebrating culture. Please share any cultural must‑plays, traditional dances, or timing notes 14 days in advance (links for reference are welcome). If pronunciation or language guidance is needed, include phonetic spellings so we get it right.
