Due to some confusion surrounding the September 26 event, and out of respect for the other entertainers involved, Ardis has made the decision to cancel her scheduled karaoke date in Smooth Rock Falls.

We sincerely apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s understanding. Supporting and respecting fellow entertainers and the local entertainment community is incredibly important.

Thank you to everyone who was planning to join us. We truly appreciate your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you all next time! ❤️🎶

Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY! ☀️💜

We made it to the end of the week! And for those of you working this weekend, you’re almost there. 😂 Hang on. Coffee, snacks, determination, spite, whatever gets you across the finish line.

I’m not going to be someone who spends every day posting political stuff. That’s just not me. I would much rather you get to know the person behind the signs, the posts, the work, the music, and the approximately 47 things I usually have going on at once. 😂

One thing you’ll learn about me pretty quickly is that I am ALWAYS busy.

Partly because staying busy keeps me out of trouble, and apparently I require quite a bit of supervision when left with too much free time. 😂 But mostly, it’s just how I was raised.

My mom was always doing something. That woman could not sit idle for any length of time. There was always somewhere to go, something to do, someone to help, or something that needed taking care of.

My dad was always on the go too, although his version involved considerably more hunting, fishing, bush roads, and probably a few stories that got better every time he told them. ❤️

And if I am being fair, I probably inherited the work ethic from both of them, but I am pretty sure the little bit of mischief came directly from my father. 😂

So I suppose I come by all of it naturally.

I’ve already lived through a whole chapter of life. I was married. I raised five beautiful adoptive children, got them through school, watched them grow up, and now they’re off living their own lives.

And suddenly, I’m an empty nester.

You raise five kids and spend years wishing for five minutes of peace and quiet.

Then you finally get it and think, “Well, this is suspiciously quiet.” 😂

So these days, I fill a lot of my time with projects, music, community work, and helping people wherever I can.

And I’ve realized something about myself over the years. One of the things that gives me the greatest sense of fulfillment is simply helping someone else.

Maybe that sounds a little selfish in its own way because helping people makes ME feel good too. But I’m okay with that.

Sometimes helping someone isn’t some grand gesture.

Sometimes it’s paying for the order behind you at Tim Hortons.

Sometimes it’s carrying something heavy.

Sometimes it’s sending a message because someone crossed your mind.

And sometimes it’s just sitting down and listening while somebody unloads everything they’ve been carrying.

That last one is important.

We are all busy. We have deadlines. Phones ringing. Messages waiting. Places to be. A list of things that should have been done yesterday.

But when someone stops you because they need a few minutes of your time, give them those few minutes when you can.

Sit down.

Listen.

Ten or fifteen minutes might seem insignificant in your day.

But it might not be insignificant in theirs.

Life has taught me that lesson the hard way.

Sometimes those little interruptions that seemed inconvenient at the time become moments you would give absolutely anything to have back.

So my little Friday motivation is this:

Work hard. Stay busy. Chase the things that matter to you. Laugh whenever you can. Help people when you’re able.

But don’t get so busy building your life that you forget to stop and be present in someone else’s.

The work will still be there in 15 minutes.

The deadline will still exist.

The laundry will DEFINITELY still be there because apparently that stuff reproduces overnight. 😂

But people aren’t promised to us forever.

Make the time.

Listen to the story.

Have the conversation.

Give the hug.

Make somebody laugh.

And if all else fails, buy the person behind you a coffee.

You never know which tiny moment will end up meaning everything someday. ❤️

Happy Friday, everyone.

Be kind. Be useful. Stay a little busy.

And try to stay out of trouble.

I’ll be attempting at least three of those today. 😂💜

What a night! 🎤

Karaoke at the Legion last night was an absolute blast, (big shout out to the crowd!!) and later today I’m heading into rehearsal for my September gigs because apparently “rest” was never included in my operating instructions. 😂🎶

But before I disappear behind a microphone again, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who supports me in my work life, my music life, my community involvement, and my political goals. Somehow, you continue to cheer me on while I juggle approximately 47 things at once, and I appreciate it more than you know.

We live in a world where there will always be someone telling you what you should do, what you should believe, who you should be, and sometimes even who you should support.

My advice? Make choices you can live with.

I’ve already seen some pretty unfortunate campaigning strategies beginning to simmer to the surface. Slander, rumours, personal attacks and bullying have no place in building a stronger community. We can disagree. We can challenge ideas. We can ask tough questions. But we can also do it with respect.

For me, it comes down to a few pretty simple things:

Hard work. Dedication. Listening. Action.

I’m not interested in tearing somebody else down to make myself look taller. I’d rather put that energy into showing up, doing the work and giving people something positive to vote for, support or believe in.

Whether I’m at work, on a stage, volunteering in the community or working toward another goal, one thing about me has always been pretty consistent: if something matters to me, I put in the hours.

And this community matters to me.

So have an amazing Sunday. Be kind. Turn the music up. Support each other. And remember that there is enough room in this world for people to succeed without having to knock somebody else down first. ❤️

Now, off to rehearsal I go.

No rest for the wicked… but apparently there’s plenty of time for another song. 🎤😂🎶
