Not going to lie, most of the “garden hacks” I see online are straight garbage. To say I was skeptical of this one is an understatement. Has anyone else tried this out? How’d it work for you?

Some of the last of the seasons flowers to celebrate my Grandma’s 96th birthday! She’s a true spitfire, the matriarch of our family, and someone who taught me a lot about farming. She’s always been my biggest supporter, and is there to listen when I need some wisdom. Here’s to many more years with her!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon celebrating and remembering a beautiful friend. She lived an incredible life filled with adventure, and was beaming every time I saw her. She was a kindred spirit who loved to grow and garden and we will miss her dearly!

Meet Charlyn Collins 💐

Charlyn, along with her siblings, grew up on their multigenerational family farm. Collectively, they decided that their generational contribution to the family farm was to go into the flower farming business.

Now offering Upick events, growing florals for weddings, and even sharing their knowledge through teaching classes - The Lilac Row has become a hub for all things flowers in Southern Alberta.

I’ve been refusing to acknowledge fall, but it appears to be happening with or without me.

So, we’ve got a couple of fall favourites coming up as we get ready to wrap up another season at the farm.

Gardening 101 is back September 30! Fall is actually a really great time to talk gardening. We’ll cover what you should be doing in the garden now, what can wait, and how to make life a whole lot easier come spring. I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned through my Master Gardener training, plus a whole lot of trial and error growing here at the farm.

Then on October 8, we’re bringing back our annual Pumpkin Centrepiece Workshop! This one sells out every year and has become our official season send-off. Flowers, pumpkins, c***r and one last evening at the farm before we tuck everything in for winter.

Peonies kicking off the 2026 season with a BANG! I would cover our farm in peony plants if I could, but because we have so many lovely trees we are running out of planting space. Maybe it’s time to take over some more grass!?
