That sure was a memorable day in Bobcaygeon!
On behalf of the 150 Steering Committee we would like to extend a big THANK-YOU to all those involved in making our June 13 day of celebration a success:
To the volunteers who helped with the kids’ zone at the Beach Park; Maryboro Lodge Museum (Glenn Walker) for the games and music; the Oshkihamoong Singers and the Indigenous botanist at the Gdinuhwendimin friendship garden. What a fun-filled morning! We have heard so many positive responses from local and visiting families.
To the volunteers who helped with the parade; the people, groups and businesses that participated in the parade; and the community who showed up to cheer us on. This was a full and smooth-running parade that showcased our village well.
To the volunteers who helped with the celebration and dance at the arena; the school students and teachers who created memorable displays; the Settlers' Village Quilt Guild for the remarkable quilt; the dignitaries who shared acknowledgements; Bobcaygeon Foodland for the wonderful anniversary cake; Kawartha Dairy for the delicious ice cream; J & G Food Wagon for feeding the crowd and braving the storm; and Kimbletone for organizing the fabulous local talent. This was a significant event and we wanted to best show what makes Bobcaygeon so special - we did that thanks to you!
Thank you to those who have generously donated towards our celebrations; the Kawartha Lakes Community Partnership and Development Fund for the activities at the Beach Park; the Bobcaygeon Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Fund for sponsoring the bands; the Government of Canada; and Community Anniversaries - Building Communities through Arts and Heritage fund.
