Good Mare.. I’d never consider myself a horse trainer… although when it comes to building trust and respect I’ve been super successful.
This mare is considered “hard to catch”. And she comes from a home that has never abused her and takes wonderful care of her despite the struggle. Her owner is a successful Equestrian person and owns a few farms and can’t find the time or patience to work with her. So I offered. ..
Working in a paddock with her mates. Thought it would be tough. But within 10 min she was following me around and let me put a lead on her and hang out. Not long after we were outside the paddock hanging out. And then before I left I caught and released her 3 more times using my same method. She just let me. Each time with less and less time to gain her trust.. in all I was there for 45 min. .. we shall see how the next few days go. Hope I can make her trust again.
