One of the questions we get asked most often is: “How did the three of you come together?”

The short answer? We recognized a great team when we found one.

We first came together this Spring, and it didn’t take long to see how well our different backgrounds, experiences and strengths complemented one another. We’re three capable, hardworking leaders who care deeply about Abbotsford and share a clear vision for its future.

In a relatively short time, we’ve built a campaign, connected with our community and brought our shared vision to life. We’ve done it by building on our strengths, making decisions and getting things done.

Have we agreed on everything? No. We’ve had our disagreements, challenged each other’s ideas and worked through different perspectives. But we respect one another, find common ground and keep moving forward.

We believe that’s what makes a strong team: complementary strengths, shared values and the ability to turn ideas into action.

Shared vision. Different perspectives. One strong team.

That’s Abbotsford Voice.

Happy Thanksgiving, Abbotsford! 🍂

This weekend was filled with a hockey tournament, time with family and watching advance voting numbers grow. It’s encouraging to see so many people taking part in our local democracy!

I often share glimpses of our farming family lifestyle, but there’s another family business that has been serving Abbotsford for more than 35 years. Built by my dad, Ivor Venema, it’s a business I’m also involved in, alongside my mom and two brothers.

Growing up in a family business taught me the value of a strong work ethic, commitment and showing up when you’re needed. Being part of a family business comes with its own rewards, but it also means understanding that the work doesn’t always end when the day does.

Those lessons have stayed with me and shaped how I approach local government, too. Whether it’s running a business or serving our community, both require commitment, hard work and a willingness to put in the effort for something bigger than yourself.

This Thanksgiving, I’m especially grateful for family, community and the opportunity to serve the place we call home.

This was such a great event and so thankful for the beautiful sunshine that came out for us last Thursday! ☀️

Hey Abbotsford! Advance voting is taking place again this weekend — Saturday and Sunday! 🗳️ 8am-8pm and the Old Courthouse or Drive Thru Only at Abby Exhibition Park (Gate 2) 🚘

One of the things we’re most proud to hear on the campaign trail is how many people are planning to vote for the first time this year.

That matters.

Municipal elections may not always get the same attention as other levels of government, but the decisions made by your city council have a direct impact on your everyday life.

Your local voice matters. Your vote matters.

So if this is your first time voting, we’re so glad you’re here. And if you’ve voted before, bring someone with you who hasn’t. ❤️

Let’s make our voices heard, Abbotsford!
