Did you know: Permanent jewelry refers to custom-fitted necklaces, anklets, rings, or bracelets that are micro-welded directly onto your body without a traditional clasp for continuous, 24/7 wear?
These amazing seamless pieces stay on through showering, swimming, and workouts. There’s a phenomenal Bahamian artist that not only leads the industry in the Bahamas, but also offers classes, expanding the professional knowledge to aspiring local jewelers. This trend has evolved globally into a popular, symbolic way to celebrate milestones, bonds, friendships, shared experiences and LOVE. Due to the fact that the jewelry is worn continuously, HIGH quality, tarnish-resistant, and hypoallergenic metals are required.. Fun Fact - the lightweight jewelry chains do not trigger standard airport metal detectors or TSA screening machines...
Proudly Bahamian! 🫡 🇧🇸

Another Bahamian patriotic symbol is the Coat of arms. It is a visually rich heraldic shield displaying OUR country's unique elements and historic legacy. Designed by local Artist Rev. Hervis Bain Jr. Officially approved by Queen Elizabeth II on December 7, 1971 after 3 different versions spanning from 1869-1971 Depicting a British ship chasing two pirate ships out at the high seas and then motto "Expulsis piratis restituta commercia" (Pirates expelled, commerce restored). Our modern shield features the Santa María, Columbus's flagship, Above the ship is a radiant golden sun, symbolizing the islands' unique climate.
The Supporters: On the left a Blue Marlin jumping from the water, honoring the local fishing heritage.
On the right- a Pink Flamingo standing on marshland, which represents the national bird and local land wildlife.
The Crest: a pink Conch Shell sitting on a royal helmet, surrounded by five green palm fronds. Historic Facts - The National Motto at the very base of the design : "Forward, Upward, Onward, Together". The iconic national motto was created through a nationwide student competition won by two 11-year-old schoolchildren: Vivian F. Moultrie and Melvern B. Bowe.

Every nation's flag has its precise significance and symbolism. The Bahamas' Flag is OUR first patriotic symbol of us. While the flag's colors and elements were compiled from various submissions in a national design contest, Rev. Hervis Bain Jr. was tasked with refining and finalizing its structural presentation ahead of Independence Day on July 10, 1973.
The flag features a horizontal triband of aquamarine and gold, separated by a black equilateral triangle at the hoist. Officially adopted on the day our nation gained independence from the United Kingdom.
The flag's colors and shapes represent the country's landscape and the character of its people.
Aquamarine (Blue): Represents the rich, crystal-clear sea that surrounds the islands.
Gold: Symbolizes the bright sun and the sandy beaches, as well as the abundance of natural resources on the land.
Black: Stands for the vigor, strength, and UNITY of the Bahamian people.
The Triangle: Pointing toward the body of the flag, it represents the DETERMINATION of the people to develop and possess the resources of the sea and land. Although often used as a "flag of convenience" by many foreign maritime entities, the veins of the Patriotic Bahamian still bleed those colors.

Did you know- Androsia Hand Made Batik was started on the beach, in the late 1960's by Rosi Birch. Batik was a low tech but vibrant art form that Rosi thought would be a wonderful fit for Andros.
The Fabric and garments were hand painted with wax and dyed on the beach, then sent out to local women to sew and finish in their homes. When The Bahamas became an independent nation in 1973, Androsia Hand Made Batik took off as the unofficial national fabric of The Bahamas. Everything was 100% Hand Made in The Bahamas & inspired by the natural beauty of The Bahamas & committed to giving back to the community… 🫡🇧🇸
