Curfew holds a special place in my heart. From the very early parties in a shabby chalet to the first open airs in Ghent, it always felt like we were the defenders of all things soulful.

In its 11th year we are still defending all things soulful, so just come on down this Saturday to Blaarmeersen and be part of our little pocket of house & disco revolution.

I'll be playing with my musical brother Jensen Jonckheere from 18h30 till 20h30. You will notice a slight change in appearance as compared to this old and still favourite picture of us two back in the day at Decadance.

The two other pictures neatly sum up what Curfew has always been about. Big love to Lady Linn and Kerri Chandler.

Doreen Van Steen & yours truly have been fantasizing and realizing for some 4 years now.

This Saturday night we'll be there to make your dancefloor fantasy a reality at KNALL - Knallspiel at Café Charlatan.

Dress our part...more or less...or less is more...

We're on between 1h and 3h in the Belgica backroom. But do not despair, if you want a taste of my house medicine then come on down in the afternoon to Curfew festival where I'll be playing between 18h and 20h with my dearest musical brother Jensen Jonckheere.

Yes, my record collection allows me to be both your warm-up and after party.

It's happened times and again to black music, but at present I feel techno is the most white-washed, dumbed-down, un-funked, re-packaged for the masses and industry-abused electronic music out there. (albeit with afro house a closed second...)

Devoid of soul, experiment, grit, funk and character, it's turned into a bland mass of mindless 150 bpm cheap trance-induced treadmill stuff for musically-challenged kids or so-called melodic techno...without even a hint of an interesting melody in it.

You would think I'm a bitter DJ moaning about how it was all better back in the day, but alas, I'm alive, kicking and full of energy because of the amount of absolutely stunning Detroit (techno) music out there. Old and new.

One week spent in techno's birthplace Detroit is all it takes to realize the 313 still delivers, still experiments and still does it like no one else.

It took me some weeks to make the many records I found during my trip really my own, but today I'm happy to share 4 mixes with you. 4 mixes that are almost 100% Detroit made or released, with some other stuff that fits thrown in. Detroit is after all not a one track city when it comes to music. On the contrary, you'll be hard pressed to find any other city in the world that has the same diversity and downright quality across the board.

With the summer season lurking around the corner I always have some club season nostalgia kicking in. Luckily I still have some regular spots like Café Charlatan and Stammbar to keep playing all night in the dark in months to come and of course I also have a great time playing smaller festivals where the dancefloors are just as intimate.

One of those smaller open airs is Lust Outdoor that will be celebrating its 10th birthday this Saturday. Good memories from playing there in 2024 with the ever lovely Mona Lee.
