When George Floyd’s life was taken during the pandemic I created this track and video for Juneteenth 2020 to express the lifelong agony associated with being Black in a violently racist world, honor several notable humans whose lives have been unfairly taken due to their race, and submit an audiovisual dedication to the eternally evolving legacy of Black Pride and its various manifestations.
🔥The video is not a commercial project, and includes some distressing factual and fictional images and media from the history of racial violence. The video also uses imagery and video in the edit that is not my original media, including both historical archival media, journalist photos, motion picture footage (Amistad) and video showcasing jubilant Homecoming celebrations at my parents Alma Mater NC A&T.
