Finding new friends
People with special needs often need a little help to make new friends. For their graduation project, our son Koen together with 4 other students made a study how people with special needs can make new friends.

After studying the subject, they organised a meeting moment for more than 20 people, with games and entertainment. We were happy to help this project with some flower arrangements, and wish all the participants a lot of new friends.

Nieuwe Vrienden
Mensen met een verstandelijke beperking hebben dikwijls problemen om nieuwe vrienden te vinden. Onze zoon Koen maakte samen met 4 andere studenten hierover een studie. Samen organiseerden ze een ontmoetingsmoment voor meer dan 20 mensen. Wij zijn blij dat we dit project konden helpen met enkele bloemstukken. We wensen alle deelnemers veel nieuwe vrienden toe.

The cloud was a very satisfying experience. Working together with a wonderfull team, Tine, Ria, and Birgit, working in a fantastic looking 450 old city hall, and getting great comments from the more than 5000 visitors.

After a short holiday in the coming days, preparations start for the next exhibition.

Wedding Hall - Trouwzaal

Ilse and myself in the wedding hall where we married 26 years ago. Now we are many ikebana adventures later and we hope there are a lot more to come. After a short holiday in the coming days, preparations start for the next exhibition.

Na het afbreken hebben we nog even een foto genomen in de trouwzaal van het stadhuis. Hier zijn we 26 jaar geleden getrouwd. Nu zijn we vele ikebana avonturen later en we hopen dat er nog vele mogen volgen. Na een korte vakantie vlieger we er terug in, met de voorbereidingen voor de volgende tentoonstelling.

Ben: Ilse made together with Tine, Ria, and Birgit a fusion between ikebana and western style floral art for the 450 th anniversary of the city hall of Antwerp.

Yesterday I went to the city hall to make pictures of their creations. I was impressed by the city hall, the decorations, and the building itself, and felt honoured to be able to take pictures in this environment.

Ilse and myself got married in this city hall more than 25 years ago, and it was something special to use my photography talents for a piece of art Ilse created with her team.

I took lots of pictures but I was not happy. As is often the case the light put on the arrangements is very nice for visitors, but it is a nightmare for photographers. At the end I decided to use my own speedlites to overpower existing light. This is the result. We love to hear your comments.

Everybody in the vicinity of Antwerp should visit the city hall for this unique event.

NL: Naar aanleiding van de 450ste verjaardag van het stadhuis van Antwerpen heeft Ilse samen met Tine, Ria en Birgit een fusion gemaakt tussen Ikebana en Westers stijl bloemschikken. Gisteren kon ik in het stadhuis foto's nemen en ik was onder de indruk van de decoraties en het gebouw. Ik voelde me vereerd dat ik foto's kon nemen in deze omgeving.

Ilse en ik zijn meer dan 25 jaar geleden getrouwd in dit stadhuis en ik vond het dan ook heel speciaal om hier foto's te nemen van de kunstwerken die Ilse samen met haar team gerealiseerd hadden.

Ik heb veel foto's genomen maar ik was niet helemaal gelukkig met het resultaat. Zoals meestal zijn de spots en het licht erg mooi voor de bezoekers, maar ze zijn een nachtmerrie voor fotografen. Op het einde van de fotoshoot heb ik nog geprobeerd om mijn eigen flashes te gebruiken om de spots weg te cijferen. Dit is het resultaat. Wij horen graag jullie commentaar.

Iedereen in de buurt van Antwerpen moet zeker deze unieke tentoonstelling bezoeken.
