Carla did a phenomenal job safely transferring 150 eggs to a safe nesting area.

What To Do If a Sea Turtle Comes to Lay Eggs:
✅ 1. Stay Calm and Quiet
Keep noise levels low—turn down music and ask guests to stay quiet.

Loud sounds and sudden movements can scare the turtle back into the water without nesting.

✅ 2. Do Not Approach or Touch the Turtle
Stay at least 30 feet (10 meters) away.

Never try to “help” or redirect the turtle—it knows what it’s doing.

✅ 3. Turn Off Bright Lights
Artificial lights (flashlights, phone lights, event lighting) can disorient the turtle, especially hatchlings later.

Dim or turn off event lights facing the beach if possible.

Avoid flash photography.

✅ 4. Redirect Guests Respectfully
Calmly inform guests what’s happening.

Encourage them to enjoy this rare experience from a respectful distance.

Consider roping off a safe area around the turtle.

✅ 5. Notify Authorities or a Local Turtle Conservation Group
If you're in a protected zone, call the local wildlife authority or sea turtle conservation hotline.

They may want to mark the nest or monitor the situation.

✅ 6. Protect the Nest After the Turtle Leaves
Do not disturb or dig around the nest.

Mark the area with visible, respectful indicators (like biodegradable rope and signs) to avoid accidental trampling.

🚫 What NOT to Do:
❌ Don’t crowd or touch the turtle.

❌ Don’t shine lights directly at her.

❌ Don’t interfere with the nesting process.

❌ Don’t allow guests to walk on or near the nest site afterward.
