People assume I learned this from a Pinterest board. I actually learned it in a graduate program my whole family used to brag about, before I “threw it away.” Here is what nobody gets about what I do. Planning an event is logistics. It is project management. It is running ten moving pieces, ten vendors, one timeline, under pressure, with zero room for it to go wrong. That is not a craft I picked up gluing centerpieces, that is a discipline, the exact discipline they hand out master’s degrees for. My family thought I walked away from my education to blow up balloons. I did not walk away from it. I aimed it at something I actually love. So when I tell you I will manage your whole event, that is not confidence, that is training. I just use it on your wedding instead of in a boardroom.

If you catch yourself saying, “I could totally do this myself,” please read this before you say it to a planner.

There is a reason that line makes me quietly close my calendar to you, and it is not what you think.

I’m Ashanti, 8 years planning weddings and events on Aruba, and I tell you what other vendors won’t.

That sentence tells me you think the work is easy, you will argue the invoice, and you will fight me on every decision you hired me to make.

The brides I have done my absolute best work for over 8 years handed it over on purpose, and got to relax while I ran the entire thing.

Comment RUN and I will send you the details to book your consultation.

When you hire someone for your wedding you think you are buying one thing. You are actually buying two, and most people only pay for the one that does not save their day.

There is the pretty, and there is the possible.

The pretty is what you see, the tables, the flowers, the setup that makes you gasp when you walk in, and that is real skill, I love that part.

But the possible is the timeline that keeps dinner from landing at midnight, the backup plan when a vendor flakes, the person watching the whole machine so nothing falls through.

A decorator makes it pretty. A planner makes it possible.

Most people book the pretty, assume they are getting the possible, and find out on the day that nobody was running the show.

You do not need someone to make your wedding gorgeous. You need someone to make sure it happens.

36 years of becoming the woman I once prayed I could be. 💕

Today I’m not just celebrating a birthday. I’m celebrating who I’ve become along the way — a mother, an entrepreneur, a dreamer, and the woman behind DND Weddings Aruba.

When I started this journey, I didn’t have it all figured out. I just knew I wanted more — more freedom, more time with my children, more control over my life, and the chance to build something truly mine.

Somewhere along the way, the business became something bigger.

I’ve been part of some of the biggest moments in people’s lives — watched couples say “I do,” families come together, and ideas that once lived only in my head turn into real celebrations.

But behind every setup you see on this page, there’s a woman building a life too. Raising two boys. Taking risks. Getting things wrong sometimes, and trying again.

That might be what I’m most proud of: my children get to watch their mother chase her dreams without ever giving up being their mother. 💕

At 36, I’m grateful for everything I’ve built — and I know I’m nowhere near finished. Bigger rooms. More families to serve. Another version of me I haven’t met yet.

So today, I celebrate her too. 💕

Happy birthday to the woman behind DND Weddings Aruba. 🥂
Here’s to 36 — and everything still becoming. ✨

There is one sentence in a consultation that tells me everything, and most planners hear it as a compliment.

“I could totally do this myself, I just don’t have the time.”

Mm. Here is what that really means.

It means you think what I do is easy. It means the moment the quote lands, we are going to argue about every line. It means you do not want a professional, you want a discount version of one.

I used to talk people out of that. Eight years in, I let them go.

The right client never needs convincing that good work is worth paying for. She already knows.

If that is you, comment ISLAND. If it is not, no hard feelings, truly.

You did not overpay for your wedding. You underhired.

Before you sign a single contract, you need to know the difference nobody explains. I’m Ashanti, 8 years planning weddings and events on Aruba, and I tell you what other vendors won’t.

A decorator makes it pretty, a planner makes it possible. The decorator styles your tables and leaves, while the planner confirms your vendors, fixes the wrong chairs, holds the timeline, and kills the problem before it reaches you.

In 8 years I have watched brides book pretty, assume possible, and panic three weeks out, and have watched the ones who hired right float through a night that just worked.

Comment PLANNER and I will send you the details to book your consultation.

Most people in my industry would be mortified to bring what I bring to a work site. I show up with mine,
sometimes my kids are right there with me, and I am not hiding it anymore, because it is part of why clients trust
me. Here is the thing. I do not split myself into business owner and mother like they are two different people who
cannot be in the room at the same time. They are both just me. A lot of the women I work near go days without
seeing their kids, some do not have any, no judgment, that is their life, but it is not mine and I stopped pretending it
was. When a client’s little one melts down during a consultation, I get on the floor and play with them, because I
have been that mom, frazzled, guilty, doing my best. That is not unprofessional. That is the whole reason mothers
feel safe with me. I do not paint a picture that it is all glamorous. I show you the real one, and the real one has kids
in it. Comment ISLAND.

There is one sentence I hear on almost every first call, and the second it comes out I already know how the wedding day is going to feel.

“I’ll just plan it myself and still enjoy the day.”

Sweetheart, no.

The bride who plans it all herself is not in the moment, she is in the bathroom texting a vendor in her dress.

Planning is the forty phone calls, the vendor who ghosts, the timeline nobody is watching.

You cannot do all of that AND be present.

You can plan your wedding, or you can enjoy your wedding. Pick one.

Tell me in the comments, which one are you choosing?

And if it is the second one, comment ISLAND and I will send you the reality check nobody else will.
