A little behind-the-scenes peek from my kitchen last week.

Three simple buttercream cakes, each waiting to become something completely different.

I think this is one of my favourite parts of cake making — starting with a simple blank cake and watching it slowly take on its own personality.
It’s always lovely to see each cake come to life in its own little way. 🥰

Sometimes when I’m decorating a cake, I catch myself overthinking.

I spend far too long choosing flowers, adjusting colours, or changing tiny details that nobody else would probably notice.

But I can’t help it.

Because I’m not just making a cake.

I’m thinking about the celebration it’s going to be part of, the smiles around the table, the memories that will be made.

And over time, I’ve realised that people can feel that.

They can feel the care, the intention, and the love behind what I create.

Looking back at these cakes, I'm reminded that each one was created for a different person, a different celebration, and a different story. And I'm very grateful to have a little place in those stories.

As I've been preparing the last of my Winter Tart Collection this week, I found myself thinking:

If I were buying one of these boxes, who would I want to share it with?

Almost immediately, a few special people came to mind.

Eight years ago, our family arrived in Esperance with our one-year-old little girl and very few connections. One of the first places where we found friendship and community was Mainly Music. Through those Wednesday mornings, we met kind people, built friendships, and eventually found the church family we still belong to today.

While making tartlets this week, I found myself thinking about those people and how much their kindness helped our family feel at home in Esperance. As a small thank you, I'll be sharing some tartlets with a few of them tomorrow 💛

Winter can be a season when we naturally think of gathering, sharing, and reaching out to others. Whether it's a friend, neighbour, family member, someone going through a difficult time, or simply someone you'd like to thank, I hope these tartlets can help share a little warmth.

When I first opened Miya's Sweets last year, tartlets were included in my Taster Boxes. Since then, many people have asked if they would ever be available again.

A little update from Miya's Sweets 🩷

I will be taking a winter break from 19 June to 25 July.

My last pickup before the break will be Sunday 15 June, and I will be back taking orders from August.

There will still be a few sweet things happening over the next two weeks before I head away, so keep an eye out for upcoming posts.
