A big thanks from Farmer Bert for supporting him through his first flower season 🌸
He’s very excited for a bigger and longer season with all of the skills he’s picked up.
For those wanting to grow their own next season, here are Bert’s flower recommendations:
1. Zinnia- can direct sow, drought tolerant, great strike rate, continuous bloom, long vase life, many varieties, very long flowering season (we’ve had a light frost and they’re still hanging in there!)
2. Cosmos- great strike rate, handles the heat, many varieties (we love the Rubenza & Apricotta), long flowering season, large plant, continuous bloom.
3. Gladioli- This is Albert’s favourite flower. You can buy Gladioli corms from about June. We get our’s from Tesselaar.
He’s taking Asters off the list for next season, didn’t meet Bert’s expectations.
His spring bulbs are in the ground ready to welcome Jack Frost. He’s a big fan of Ranunculus 🤩
Our Chief Waterer loves lilies, and he’s given the green light to triple the lily crop this year. But we were doing this whether he said yes or no. 💪🏻
Wishing everyone a day of sunshine & dirt filled nails. 🪴
