New Business… Not New to Business 🤍

People often see a new business and assume it's the beginning of the story. For us, it's simply the next chapter.

We are expanding not launching! 🧡✨️🥂

Over 10 years ago, we started with a passion for capturing love stories through film, photography and drone cinematography. That business grew into one of Victoria's trusted wedding media companies, and after documenting hundreds of weddings, we discovered something bigger – a passion for creating unforgettable wedding experiences from beginning to end.

That passion led us to open Ivory Pavilion, and what an incredible journey it has been. Four years later, we've been honoured with awards, celebrated countless beautiful weddings, and proudly sell out every peak wedding season. None of it would have been possible without the incredible couples who trusted us with the biggest day of their lives and the amazing team who stand beside us every weekend.

Now, we're excited to announce the next step.

We're expanding into Geelong with The Ivory Barn – not only as a beautiful wedding venue, but also as a welcoming café where friends, families and our local community can gather, connect and enjoy great food and coffee.

This new venture is about more than growth. It's about creating something special for our community while providing our incredible staff with consistent opportunities throughout the week, rather than just weekend work. And bringing our passion to our home (literally live 8 mins away!) We believe great teams deserve stability, and we're proud to continue building careers alongside unforgettable experiences.

To everyone who has supported us over the past week and booked in thier biggest day with us—thank you. This isent a gamble on new operators these are planned, trailed and tested wedding processes that work and better than that they are creating memories that last a lifetime. 🙏

Bridal "Prep"... aka getting ready! 💄👰✨

Let's talk about bridal preparations... or as we like to call it make up from... "stupid o'clock!" 😂 Sorry ladies, but those early starts are all part of wedding day magic!

Hair and makeup take time—especially when there's a larger bridal party. As a guide, allow around **one hour per person**, so if there are five of you having both hair and makeup done, that's around five hours before anyone even thinks about putting on a dress.

Here's something many couples don't realise...

Your photographer and videographer don't actually want to arrive while you're still sitting in the makeup chair. They want to capture **the magic that happens afterwards.** ✨

This is where some of the most beautiful memories of your day are created.

💕 Laughing with your bridesmaids.
💕 Helping each other into dresses.
💕 Mum or maid of honor doing up your gown.
💕 Putting on your shoes, jewellery and veil.
💕 Spraying your perfume.
💕 Reading letters or gifts from your partner.
💕 A champagne toast with your favourite people.
💕 Those emotional family moments before you leave.

These aren't just "getting ready" photos... they're the beginning of your wedding story.

Our biggest piece of advice?

Allow at least TWO HOURS between finishing hair and makeup and leaving for your ceremony.

This gives your photographer and videographer plenty of time to capture everything naturally, without anyone feeling rushed or stressed.

And your backdrop - where you get ready what colours are on the walls, what windows and mirrors are in the space do you have a cleared area to do inside photos - try to make a "no mess" room so you can do your getting dress on and photos away from the expected mess and bags around the rooms.

Get all your details together - purfume, jewlery, flowers, vail, shoes, invite, gifts, merch for the wedding, and anything else special to you ready for when your photographer arrives. 9 instead of them asking where everything is.

If you're still in the chair when they arrive, don't worry—they'll begin with all of your beautiful detail shots, including:

✨ Your dress
✨ Shoes
✨ Veil
✨ Jewellery
✨ Perfume
✨ Invitations
✨ Flowers
✨ Coat hangers
✨ Robes or matching PJs
✨ Personalised bags, glasses or keepsakes

These little details become treasured memories once the wedding day has flown by. - Tag your Bridesmaids to this post for this list below!

Bride's "Grab & Go" Checklist ✔️

Ask Mum or one of your bridesmaids to keep one bag packed and ready to go with:

• Water bottle
• Lipstick & lip balm, touch up make up.
• Bobby pins
• Safety pins
• B**b tape or fashion tape
• Keys, Phone, Purse
• In the vail in?
• Do you need to bring boutineers/Buttons holes for father of the bride?
• Flowers!!! - Bouquets in hand?
• Clear nail polish
• Flat shoes or sneakers for later
• Your reception outfit (if you're changing)

When you arrive at Ivory Barn simply hand your bag to our staff or your wedding planner. We'll keep it safe until you need it, so you can focus on the only thing that matters...

When it comes to styling your wedding tables, there is so much more involved than most couples realise.

It can include linen, placemats or charger plates, table runners, candles, cylinders, candle holders, flowers, greenery, bud vases, napkins, dinner and side plates, glassware, cutlery... and that's just the tables.

For 100 guests, that's hundreds of individual items to source, purchase or hire.

If you buy everything, you'll spend weeks running between Kmart, Target and Marketplace, only to sell it all afterwards—answering endless messages from time wasters and scammers, hoping to make back even half of what you spent. Not to mention the qaulity you might end up with versus someone collecting higher quality florals & greenery. Or the type of chairs you get when hiring compared to a set up venue who spent thosands on gorgeous furniture.

If you hire it all instead, a large portion of your wedding budget disappears into styling alone.

Fresh flowers are one element you can absolutely DIY, hire or purchase separately if you wish—but everything else still needs to be sourced, collected, transported, set up and packed away.

So... what does a wedding actually cost? 🤍

The truth is, it can be anywhere from a $5,000 DIY hall hire to $60,000+ for a large 250+ guest wedding. It all depends on the style of celebration you're dreaming of.

At Ivory Barn, we sit comfortably in the middle, offering an all-inclusive experience for couples with around a $30,000 budget for up to 100 guests.

My biggest advice as a wedding planner? Decide on your budget first, then build your wedding around it. Find a team whose style, inclusions and approach feel right for you.

As promised ✨️ Walk through video!
We actually had a great internet connection it was the age of our new page that prevented a live video option. Learned you needed to be up for 60 days or longer.
Between our first private viewings (Thank you! 💕) we had a moment to walk around and as it got to be uploaded instead of a live version I was able to over lay a few images for the visual thoughts.
