Local, seasonal Australian wildflowers mixed with roses for Vivienne ❤️

Sadly, this is the last bouquet I have made with roses. At this time I am unfortunately unable to offer roses because there are currently no Australian roses available in Perth ☹️

Using local, seasonal flowers that aren’t imported and sprayed for quarantine purposes is an important principle of sustainable floristry.

So I have reluctantly decided to cut roses from the menu for the time being 💔

We planted some roses on our farm last year and are planting a heap more this Autumn.

It is my mission to bring local roses to the florists of Perth! But all good things take time so sadly, for right now, it is farewell to roses 🌹

I know that I will lose some clients for this reason because roses are absolutely stunning and I understand why people want them in their weddings.

But I am ok with this because I know that my decision will also be what connects me with my kinda people…people who care about the planet, are passionate about sustainability and who are willing to make sacrifices for the greater good 🥰

While we patiently wait for our roses to become established and start thriving, we are working on growing beautiful alternatives.

I’m such a big fan of the non-traditional so my heart flipped when I saw the stunning Kristy rocking this bright pink wedding dress 🩷🔥

Best part was her groom, Nick, had no clue she was planning this. I love little surprises on wedding days!

And how fantastic do her bridesmaids look in their brightly coloured mismatched dresses?! 🔥

Our sheep ate this tree down to nothing when it was establishing itself and it has taken 3 years for it to recover and start blooming.

After celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary this week, I’ve been looking back on our wedding and thinking about what I would change and what I wouldn’t if I could go back and do it all over again.

Hopefully this advice will help you with some decision making on your wedding planning journey!

Things I WOULDN’T change…

🤎 Marrying the love of my life - celebrating our love & commitment to each other with our family & friends was what the day was all about. I’ve watched couples lose sight of this as the stress of wedding planning creeps in. Don’t lose sight of what the day is really about!

🤎 Backyard Wedding - We wanted an intimate & relaxed wedding, our backyard wedding delivered. On the other hand, the next day cleanup was not fun! This one could actually be on both lists 🤣

🤎 Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses - I wanted my girls to be, above anything, comfortable in what they were wearing so I chose a neutral colour scheme and told them to go choose whatever they wanted 👌

🤎 Vintage, Rustic & Earth Inspired - I will forever love vintage! It is timeless, unique and quirky. Mismatched vintage chairs, 100 antique bottles, rustic furniture, tree bark place cards, tea cup plants…my taste has definitely refined since then but its still my vibe!

Things I WOULD change…

🤎 Flowers - if only I knew back then what I know now about flowers! I used to think that something as natural as flowers must be sustainable… not the case! I picked up bunches of flowers from the local market without a second thought. But now I know they were all imported. Local, seasonal Australian natives are the way to go!

🤎 Not hiring a wedding day coordinator - At the time I was establishing my business and my wedding was my first job so it was a very busy day for me, my husband and our loved ones. Everyone pitched in to get it all done. We were under the pump, rushing & sweaty! Trust me, hire a coordinator! You and your loved ones deserve to spend the day relaxed & sweat-free! It’s an investment you will never regret!

We have fresh and naturally dried bunches available, all locally and organically grown on our farm in Gabbadah.

We offer local delivery to Yanchep, Two Rocks, Woodridge, Gabbadah & Guilderton. Bunches to suit all budgets!

Alternatively, pop in and grab a last minute gift at Moore River Cafe We will be there Friday 2:30-6pm with a pop uo shop selling our flowers and vintage treasures.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with a wonderful bunch of women, helping them to create something beautiful ❤️

Check out the incredible wreaths these ladies made! Thank you to everyone who came along to my very first wreath workshop! I had so much fun and can’t wait to do it again next year!

Hosted by Hayley Reid, Sustainable Florist & Flower Farmer, you will learn basic principles of sustainable floristry & be given instructions on how to create your own wreath.

You will then have access to our smorgasbord of beautiful local flora to handpick materials for your design.

Don’t worry, no floral experience is required for this workshop! The process is simple and Hayley will be on hand to guide and assist you when needed.

All materials used in our workshops are natural & compostable, reusable or recyclable. Our naturally dried flowers are free of harmful pesticides, colours or dyes and they will retain their colour for at least a year.

Walk away with a beautiful, unique everlasting wreath to decorate your home or to gift to a loved one.

Workshop Inclusions;
🌿 All tools & materials required to create an everlasting wreath
🌿 Guidance & assistance from a sustainable event florist & flower farmer
🌿 Entry fee into Yanchep National Park

So I’m a wedding stylist who is now ALSO a florist offering wedding flowers. Does that mean I no longer work with other florists? Absolutely not!!

As your wedding stylist, I will recommend all my favourite sustainable florists (including myself). There is absolutely no hard feelings if you choose another florist because picking the vendors who fit your style best is my number one priority.

In fact, I actually love working with other florists! I am lucky to be part of a beautiful community of sustainable Perth florists who share ideas with each other, support each other and lift each other up.

Getting to work with these incredible women is a privilege. So here are my favourite sustainable Perth florists…

Eco Floristry Retreat by .rose.botanic - the ultimate weekend in the Swan Valley for florists and flower lovers alike🌷This one deserves a spot on my grid!

There is a serious lack of education in sustainable floristry so I literally jumped with excitement when I learnt that one of my favourite Perth florists was hosting an educational retreat!

Treat yourself to a weekend of flowers, yummy food, amazing wine, pilates and wonderful company at on 7th-8th September.

Tahnee of .rose.botanic will host workshops where you will learn sustainable floristry techniques and gain hands on experience crafting large scale installations using eco mechanics & seasonal flowers.

No experience? No worries! A love of flowers and a desire to learn is all you need! Options for all skill levels are available and Tahnee will guide you through everything.

Ticket numbers are capped at 20 so an intimate and personal experience is guaranteed!
