SHH Theory is an independent Australian film studio founded by filmmaker Michal Imielski. Building on more than two decades of artistic activity across film, theatre, opera, music, puppetry and hybrid performance, SHH Theory develops original feature films and interdisciplinary screen projects. Current projects include The Brewer and the Baker, Dead Honey, It's My House, Loom Loom, Nina Must Die and Rites of Extinction. The studio's work draws on cinema, music, folklore, migration, object theatre and ritual to create distinctive stories for contemporary audiences. 🎬 CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT
We're delighted to welcome Amanda to the cast of It's My House, where she will play Carolyn.

Yesterday we gathered for one of our first script reads with Amanda alongside Sylvia Marie, who is attached in the lead role of Ann. It was one of those wonderful moments where words on a page begin to transform into real people.

What began as a read quickly became something more. Conversations flowed about the characters, their relationships, family, and the emotional world of the story. There was laughter, debate and genuine excitement as everyone began discovering these roles together.

Amanda immediately brought Carolyn to life with warmth, vulnerability and strength. Then, in one unforgettable moment, a sudden outburst from Carolyn genuinely startled the room—in the best possible way. It was a reminder of how thrilling it is when a character suddenly feels real.

We're incredibly excited to welcome Amanda to the cast of It's My House and can't wait to continue this journey together.

Another exciting milestone for "It's My House".

After months of writing, rewriting and developing the script, this week it finally left the desk for its first read.

I'm absolutely delighted to welcome the wonderful Syl to "It's My House" in the lead role of Ann.

Watching Syl bring Ann to life was a real joy. What struck me most was her instinct for the character—moving effortlessly through Ann's constantly shifting emotions, finding unexpected layers and revealing moments within the script that genuinely surprised me. There were several times during the read where I simply stopped thinking as the writer and started watching as an audience member. That's a rare feeling.

I won't say too much just yet—Ann has plenty of surprises of her own—but I couldn't be more excited to begin this journey together.

A New Chapter For SHH Theory

Over the past two decades, SHH has taken many forms.

From SHH Centre 4 Hybrid Arts to SHH Studio, we've presented performances, workshops, exhibitions, films, music, opera, puppetry and experimental projects while working with hundreds of artists and thousands of audience members along the way.

Many of those experiences have shaped what comes next.

Over the past few years, we've been quietly developing a slate of original feature films. Some are brand new. Others have been evolving for many years, gathering ideas, collaborators and life experience along the way.

Today, SHH Theory is focusing its energy on building an independent film studio.

Our goal is simple: develop, produce and release distinctive Australian feature films while creating opportunities for artists, performers and collaborators to be part of that journey.

There is still a long road ahead.

Readings.
Workshops.
Casting.
Partnerships.
Funding.
Production.

But the foundations are now in place.
