In 2025, Australians were expected to spend around $720 million on Father’s Day gifts, with approximately 4.7 million people planning to buy something for Dad or a father figure. The average planned spend was $145, while 28% planned to celebrate over a meal. 💛

But behind every statistic is something much simpler: breakfast together, a family outing, an event, a laugh, or just a few hours set aside for someone who matters.

What’s changing in payments, and what could it mean for event organisers? 💳

Last Wednesday, Sticky Tickets CEO Dany Gruosso attended Stripe Tour Sydney 2026 at the ICC Sydney, joining industry leaders for a day focused on the future of payments, technology and commerce.

One conversation particularly relevant to our industry was the upcoming RBA surcharging reforms, with representatives from Visa, Luxury Escapes and the Australian Commonwealth Treasury discussing how changes to payments and pricing could affect Australian businesses.

For event organisers, conversations like these matter.
Payment costs, pricing transparency, checkout experience and the way customers choose to pay all sit behind something that looks incredibly simple on the surface: buying a ticket.

The event also brought together leaders including Stripe co-founder Johncollins Onyechi and Canva co-founder Cliff Obrecht, alongside emerging Australian startups competing in TechCrunch Startup Battlefield.

For us, attending events like Stripe Tour is about staying close to the conversations shaping the technology our industry relies on, and understanding what those changes could mean for organisers and their customers.
