I photographed this sequence in Toodyay, Western Australia, when a peaceful moment between two doves quickly turned into a rather spectacular disagreement.

What followed was an incredible little aerial battle — wings, feathers and attitude everywhere! The beautiful backlighting made the whole encounter look far more graceful than I'm sure it felt to the birds involved.

One of those wonderful moments in wildlife photography where you just keep the shutter firing and see what you've captured afterwards.

Caught mid-song 🎶

A Red Wattlebird giving it everything on a beautiful Saturday morning in Beverly, Western Australia.

I love those moments in wildlife photography when a still image somehow seems to capture sound as well as movement. Head back, beak open and completely committed to the performance — I was lucky enough to press the shutter at just the right moment.

Last night we had the pleasure of seeing fever – Pink Floyd by Candlelight at the beautiful Fremantle Town Hall.

What an amazing experience. The music of Pink Floyd performed by candlelight was fantastic, but the setting made it even more special. Sitting inside such a magnificent old building, surrounded by the warm glow of hundreds of candles, created an atmosphere that was pretty hard to beat.

A great night, brilliant music, and one of those occasions where the venue was every bit as much a part of the experience as the performance. 🎶🕯️

Avon Descent morning 🚣‍♂️💦

A great morning out watching the action at the Avon Descent — one of WA’s iconic events.

Fast water, plenty of spray, some serious skill and a beautiful winter morning to be out with the camera. I put together a few moments from the morning — a mix of video and stills capturing just a little of the atmosphere and action.

Always a fantastic event to photograph, and even better just being there to watch it all unfold.

While watching the action this morning, this beautiful little Grey Fantail decided to put on a performance of its own.

A successful hunt on the Harvey Estuary.

There's something special about watching a wild osprey do exactly what it has evolved to do. After circling high above the estuary, one swift dive was all it took before it emerged with a freshly caught fish.

Back at the nest, lunch was served while its mate kept a watchful eye over the territory. Moments like these are a reminder of just how incredible our local wildlife is—and how lucky we are to have places like the Harvey Estuary only a short drive south of Perth.

Nature doesn't put on a show every day... but when it does, it's unforgettable.

An unforgettable evening of music and light.

Vivaldi's The Four Seasons performed by candlelight in the magnificent surroundings of St Mary's Cathedral in Perth.

The warm glow of hundreds of candles, the incredible acoustics of the cathedral, and the passion of the musicians combined to create something truly special. Every note seemed to fill the space, making this timeless masterpiece feel as fresh and moving as ever.

The Splendid Fairywren is already one of Australia's most colourful little birds, but it's only when you get incredibly close that you begin to appreciate just how extraordinary those feathers really are. Every tiny feather catches the light differently, creating a mosaic of brilliant blues that almost looks unreal.

Freedom in Motion

Another image from the monochrome series I’m currently developing.

A black cockatoo launches from the bare branches, wings fully extended for just a fraction of a second. I love the way the high-contrast black and white treatment strips the scene back to its essentials — shape, movement, texture and space.

I’m gradually building this collection of Australian wildlife images with the idea of creating a cohesive series of fine-art prints for the home.
