I’ve been a bit quiet here because I’m currently nibbling and sipping and fossicking my way around a few parts of Japan 🇯🇵.

Travelling doesn’t come naturally to me. I love home and my work, of course I love holidays as much as anyone but international travel really challenges me. My eyesight struggles to keep adapting to phone prompts on maps and I feel like I have to make an effort to experience each place directly, as the translate/maps/photography/budget/music/flashlight/message apps seem so urgent and necessary.

Fact check: a late night dip in an onsen that is slightly too hot proved how unnecessary my phone is. Even for a short time.

These are wild growing azaleas on a mountain in Beppu. I’ve missed the Sakura by weeks but spring is really something here, and flowers are everywhere.

If you’re waiting on a quote or reply to an email I will be at “my desk” today for a while.

Hello Freo friends - I’ll be popping up at our favourite local plant store this weekend with Mother’s Day flowers for you!

Cute little posies for $30 and bigger ones for $75. All local, no plastic wrapping, lots of native focals and of course chryssies to celebrate mums.

9am - 12pm, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May at the delightful … can’t wait!

PS last year we sold out in the first hour on Sunday so don’t sleep in!
