Playing from vinyl, CD and digital. Hailing from Australia, Mortasha began DJing early 80s music at Sydney’s “retro” club, becoming resident DJ for 2 years. She was a regular at Sydney’s Electric Ballroom and Kontrol clubs, spinning goth and post-punk tunes. Mortasha has travelled extensively, also living in Los Angeles and Letterkenny, before a permanent move to London. She has played guest sets

at Reformation, Sunday Lullaby, Dark Disco, Reptile, Shadows of the Crypt and The Dark Eighties in London; Transcendence, Sanctuary, Bazooka and Atomic in Sydney; The New Order in Melbourne, Goth is Back in Tel Aviv, Into the Void in Milan, The Love Cats in Paris, Elysium in Nürnberg, Return to the Batcave festival in Wrocław and About to Cry, The Red Party and A Murder of Crows festival in New York. During the pandemic she has streamed at least weekly on her Twitch channel, with regular streams being Isolation, Babes of the Eighties, No Name No Genre and Maudlin Midweek. Mortasha celebrated 25 years of DJing in 2021. The Belfry is her quarterly club night in London.

What's on my mind you ask? I'm on my way to Dublin to see Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at Malahide Castle, which will be the 12th time I've seen them as a group and the 15th time I've seen him perform, across 4 countries. I'll also be seeing The Cure in Dublin later this month. Neither artist will be playing a London show on their respective tours.

Additionally I have some special in-person and virtual DJing events coming up.

Firstly, this coming weekend will be the cancer treatment fundraiser for Samantha Stephenson from Frenchy and the Punk during CLUB ViBE Fundraiser for Samantha (Frenchy & the Punk) - 13th & 14th June.

TL/DR: Help martin oldgoth avoid a liver transplant. Donate now and watch the raid train this weekend

This is a man I’m honoured to know as a friend and have had the privilege to DJ with several times during the pandemic years and thereafter, the DJ known as DJ martin oldgoth in lower caps (because he’s like that). He’s a stalwart in our dark scene, having DJed at club nights, festivals and special band gigs across the UK, Europe and US for over 40 years, co-founding World Goth Day and A Murder of Crows Festival, running international band tours as well as bringing various bands over for their UK debut shows.

Martin was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disease, PSC (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis) in February 2026. PSC is an incurable liver disease; doctors have advised Martin that to help slow the progress, and delay or even prevent the need for a liver transplant, he should follow a healthy diet, rest as much as he can and most importantly, retire from working, or at the very least work less hours. Until he can claim his government pension in a couple of years’ time, he’s not able to manage this financially. Being able to work less in his day job will mean there's a chance he can carry on DJing. At the moment it's hard for him, and it takes a couple of days of feeling tired and aching to get over a club night; working less would help that, but this means a cut in salary that he can't afford to take until he can draw his state pension. He’s leaving an amazing legacy and would like at least to play at the gigs he has arranged for this year and into 2027.

A fundraiser has been set up to help Martin with the financial stability he needs to aid his health.
