Which book changed the way you work, and why?
Such a beautiful question and such a wonderful concept from THURSD, bringing together the inspirations and creative influences of floral artists and designers from around the world.
I was genuinely delighted to be invited to be part of this conversation and very honoured to have my work and story included among such an incredible group of artists.
One of the books that has stayed with me was quite simply my flower bible. I had it when I was 16 and studying floristry, and I was obsessed. I studied those gorgeous babies morning and night, learning their names, how to care for them, when they flowered and everything I could possibly know about them.
That curiosity and love of really understanding flowers has stayed with me ever since.
And then, rather cheekily, when THURSD asked me to choose a book, I jokingly said, “Oh, there’s my book!” Never actually expecting them to include it!
But the more I thought about it, the more it felt like the right choice.
My book is more than a collection of my work. It tells the story of my evolution as an artist, what inspired me, how my work developed, the experiences that shaped me and how I found my own voice within flowers. In many ways, it’s a record of how I grew and flourished alongside my craft.
I loved discovering the books and stories that have influenced the other designers featured too. So many different perspectives and ways of seeing our wonderful world of flowers.
