Today you can find the electrical switch boards from 120 years ago on our mezzanine bar. A time where Machine Hall was powering the rails system in Darling harbour.

These tattoos of our past are ever present in Machine Hall and they will remain forever. A character that is earnt.

Not just another event space 🖤

Productive insomnia…nocturnal sound, socialising and play. The M.PWR Series welcomed, Radio Insomnia.
fm , curated by Anabel Lacroix, saw a mixture of live ambient curations through to vibrant performance art in the Main Hall.

Drawing on radio as a medium with its qualities for fostering social relations, and night-time as an intimate space for listening, they aimed at developing radiophonic devices for night communities.

Radio performed as art, broadcasted internationally - an invitation to listen with insomnia, rather than against it, for productivity.

Thankyou to .fm . A great concept explored through intimacy of night.

Thanks to the artists!

CALLING ALL SYDNEY ARTISTS & CREATIVES! M.PWR Series is back for another year…

The M.PWR Series is a creative program that waives venue hire for grassroots artists to perform in Machine Hall. Applications are now open on our website, and we can’t wait to hear your ideas!

In 2025, the M.PWR Series responded to a clear need for Sydney’s up-and-coming creatives. While ideas are abundant, access and support are often not….

Created by the team behind Machine Hall, the M.PWR Series lowers the barrier to entry for creatives by removing venue hire fees for both Machine Hall and Vault spaces. Now, the program returns for Series 2, with applications officially open.

Whether you’re a musician, art collective, chef, run club, acrobat, wellness group, or have a passion project that aims to bring the community together, we want to hear it, and Sydney NEEDS to see it.

Applications are officially open and can be found on the Machine Hall website and our Instagram bio.

Applications close 5PM, 18th of May.

Heritage substation meets the future of commerce, welcome …🛍️

Machine Hall went green as we welcomed Shopify for Shopify Connect.

70+ merchants gathered for an afternoon of ideas, connection, and hands-on brand experiences, all exploring how to move from awareness to action in an AI-driven landscape.

From a POS-powered swag checkout to an AI headshot booth, keynote sessions, and a dynamic panel of industry voices, the space was reimagined at every turn.

Brought to life in collaboration with thankyou for activating in the Machine!

Fragrance launch in a subterrranean nightclub?Thankyou x

Scent trailing through the space, deep blue light highlighting its imperfections, and projections cast onto stone…VAULT seemed the perfect meeting spot for a cold fragrance launch with a swarm of Sydney’s diverse creatives.

Another midweek brand launch that will be forever remembered. Thankyou and for allowing us to play host!

It’s alternative radio performed as art…welcome to .fm

The M.PWR series presents Radio Insomnia…a conceptual audio experience. A programme that will run continuously, and diversely. From ambient performance, panel discussions and abstract audio compositions. It is radio performed as art.

This edition will feature new commissions and contributions by incredibly talented artists and open mics for an all-night program, live to air.

Machine Hall will host the first part of the evening from 7:30PM, before moving to a secret location in Alexandria. Continuing the insomnia…

Please find tickets below or linked in our bio page on instagram. It’s also found on our website ‘What’s On’ page.

ARTISTS
ileto
A Filipina-Australian producer blending trance, ambient, and baroque textures into otherworldly electronic compositions.
Her work fuses traditional musical forms with hyper-digital sound design to create immersive, imagined realms.

Moss Hopkins
Creates experimental radio works by deconstructing voice, transmission, and recording technologies.
His practice distorts and reassembles sound using Morse code, shortwave, EVP, and cut-up text methods.

Explores subtle, often unnoticed sounds like room tones and residual noise at the edges of perception.
His quiet, durational performances invite deep listening, balancing presence with absence.

A drag persona by Rae Brown, delivering bold, performative works across Sydney’s club and cultural scene. Their performances challenge and reframe narratives around gender and identity through theatrical expression.

Gail Priest
An experimental sound artist using voice, objects, field recordings, and electronics to build evolving sonic landscapes. Her work plays with acousmatic sounds—blurring internal and external listening through hums, buzzes, and sonic illusions.

A space known for its design, was momentarily outdone…

Hosting the ECLOS product launch was deeply inspiring.

Backed by over 28,000 hours of research and rigorous testing, ECLOS sets a new benchmark crafted with 88% recycled material and zero crystalline silica. Sustainable yet incredibly striking, especially with a power station as your backdrop…

It felt only fitting for a space built on transformation to host a product defined by innovation.
