Some love stories start with a spark. Some start with a sweeping romantic gesture. And some, like this one, start with awkward high school students.

Elliot was the year above Karley. She was the drama and dance weirdo, always doing random performances on assembly. He was a quiet string bean with different coloured hair and non-uniform regulation basketball shorts.

Fast forward 14 years and BAM! They match on bumble. Before long, they were inseparable. They were each other’s safe place, their favourite person.

And here they are saying “I do” with so much magic, and love in the air.

Todays Ceremony was a fun one! I love nothing more than including rituals, tradition, or just fun bits that mean something to my couples.

Sarah and Carl wanted a “Jumping of the Broom”. 🧹

The broom is a powerful object in witchcraft and is seen as a representation of hearth and home and a symbol of one’s craft.

In the old Celtic tradition, couples would perform a “Bessom Wedding”, where the bride and groom would jump together over a bessom broom, to unite them in marriage.

Today, it is used to signify sweeping away any negative energy from your past, and forges a fresh start for your future together as husband and wife.

As you move over the broom you move into the new phase of your life as husband and wife, free of anything that no longer serves your loving relationship.
