VENUE SPOTLIGHT — QUAMBY ESTATE 🌿

An absolute gem of the north. Quamby is a stunning estate with some incredible outdoor spaces — but getting the music in the right place makes a HUGE difference here.

Ceremony & canapés: This is where Quamby really shines for live music. The outdoor spaces are beautiful and a trio looks and sounds incredible here. Canapés beside the reception room is always one of our favourite parts of the day.

What works: Make the most of the acoustic music while everyone is outside and together. Once guests move inside for dinner, acoustic sets can get a little lost — if you can, bring the musicians up the steps and closer to the guests rather than leaving them separated from the room.

🎧 DJ setup: The Glass Bowl looks amazing for the party, but the DJ can feel a little disconnected from everyone down below. Our pick is definitely DJ over a full band in this space — then get everyone into the Glass Bowl and ready to boogie.

🎶 Our tip: We wouldn’t recommend a full band here, just because of how loud it gets down in the dance floor room. Save the live element for earlier in the day when Quamby’s outdoor spaces really let it shine, then make the transition into a proper DJ party later.

❤️ XO pick: Trio outdoors → acoustic canapés beside the reception room → DJ in the Glass Bowl. Play to the strengths of each space and Quamby is an absolute cracker.

VENUE SPOTLIGHT — VALLEYFIELD 🌿

The hidden gem of New Norfolk! Valleyfield is one of those venues where every part of the day gets its own beautiful little setting — and we’ve played plenty of them!

Ceremony pick: The acoustic ceremony spot down by the river is absolutely stunning. Somehow it always seems to be still down there too, which makes it such a beautiful spot for live music.

What works: Outdoor canapés in the courtyard. It’s such a good space for everyone to settle in after the ceremony with a drink and some live acoustic tunes. We also like it over on the grass with the trees - Get the ‘booze bus’ in to serve cocktails to your guests - Amazing.

🎧 DJ setup: The elevated platform inside really suits a DJ setup over a full band. It looks great, gives the DJ a proper stage and leaves plenty of room for the party below.

🎷 Make it special: Add sax. With the DJ elevated above the dancefloor, there can naturally be a little separation between the music and the dancers. Having sax roaming amongst everyone brings that live element straight down onto the dancefloor and connects the whole room.

❤️ XO pick: Acoustic ceremony by the river → live music and drinks in the courtyard → DJ + sax inside. That’s Valleyfield done right.

VENUE SPOTLIGHT — FLAGSTAFF ESTATE 🌿

Another beautiful Tassie venue we know very well and has gronw in leaps and bounds over the years. Super versatile and suepr cool!

What works: Flagstaff is super flexible. Keep things intimate inside the hall, or make the most of the outdoor for a bigger outdoor cocktail or long table feel.

Acoustic pick: If you're inside the hall, we reckon a solo artist is perfect — it's an intimate space and doesn't need much more. Out in the garden, solo or duo both work beautifully.

🎧 DJ setup: One of the best bits — a proper stage and a fantastic backdrop for the DJ. It gives the reception setup a real focal point and looks great once the party gets going.

Make it special: This is a great venue to lean into the transition from relaxed garden acoustics during the afternoon to a proper party inside later on. Close the doors and get ready to wiggle!

❤️ XO pick: Solo or duo in the garden → DJ on the stage inside. Simple, relaxed through the afternoon and then everything shifts gears for the dancefloor.

XO VENUE SERIES #01 — FROGMORE CREEK

As the next season gets into gear, we're kicking off a new series highlighting some of the incredible Tassie venues we’re lucky enough to spend our weekends at – and sharing a few things we’ve learnt after playing a LOT of weddings at them.

First up – Frogmore Creek 🍷

WHAT WORKS
Frogmore is made for the full journey - One venue for the whole is amazing – live acoustic music through the ceremony and afternoon, before switching gears and getting the DJ going inside later in the night.

WHAT TO KNOW
There are a few different spaces involved across the day, so having an entertainment setup that can move with the wedding makes a huge difference. Ceremony down on the lawn, canapes up on the terrace, reception D floor by the kitchen, or in the restaurant room if you have more than 90ish people! 3 x setups - 3 parts of the day.

MAKE IT SPECIAL
Add sax to the DJ later in the night. The room loves it, the crowd tucked in together and a live sax roaming through the dancefloor is a VERY good combination at this venue in particular.

OUR XO PICK
If it were our wedding? Duo for the ceremony and afternoon (or Trio if you have the budget - the terrace loves the groove) → DJ for the reception → sax joining the party later. It's a big beautiful amazing space.

We’ve spent a lot of very good weekends at Frogmore – and there are plenty more to come.

Back on home soil and straight into the action! ✈️🎶

After several weeks galivanting around Vietnam, it was straight back behind the decks, while the incredible Beth set the perfect acoustic vibe for the annual Women in Biz Winter Soirée at Palazzo Campania.

What a way to kick off the second half of the year – celebrating and entertaining a room full of inspiring Tasmanian women doing amazing things in business. A fantastic night, a stunning venue, and plenty of laughs.

Thanks for having us – here's to many more nights like this. 💛
