Meet Nicky - one half of the team behind The Stables at Halcyon.

Long before The Stables came to life, Nicky’s connection to agriculture, rural life and community was already woven into her story.

After completing a Bachelor of Agricultural Business and working in the industry, Nicky was named State Rural Ambassador, representing her community, the agricultural industry and the agricultural show movement. Those years gave her a deep appreciation for the people, places and traditions that make rural communities so special.

That connection has stayed with Nicky throughout her life. It was also part of what inspired the restoration of The Stables at Halcyon - creating a place where people could gather, celebrate and enjoy the warmth and spirit of country life.

Recently, we came across a few old newspaper clippings from those days, and it felt rather nostalgic to bring them out from the archives and share them.

Some things have a way of coming full circle.

We’ve been reminded of just how special it is to create a space where those connections can continue - including welcoming people like Catherine Marriott OAM and Casey Treloar for our YP Rural Women’s Day, who have dedicated so much of their own life to rural communities.

We feel genuinely and humbly grateful that these ladies will be coming to share their stories and experiences within the walls of The Stables at Halcyon.

One whole year.

It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since we opened the doors of The Stables at Halcyon for our very first official event; Charlie & Lily’s wedding.

When we first decided to breathe new life into this beautiful old barn, we had plenty of ideas about what it might become. But we could never have imagined the people, stories and special moments that would fill these walls over our first twelve months.

In our first year, we’ve celebrated two beautiful weddings, welcomed the women of YP for International Rural Women’s Day, hosted our Tasting Australia event Fire + Flour + Fiddles, gathered for our Halcyon Sundays, celebrated milestone birthdays and anniversaries, welcomed corporate workshops and celebrated many special moments with family, friends and loved ones.

When we look back, it’s the people that stand out most: The laughter, the conversations, the celebrations. The moments when guests have slowed down, connected, shared a meal, raised a glass and simply enjoyed being together.

To our guests, clients, suppliers, event partners, family, friends and all the wonderful people who have generously shared their time, energy and expertise along the way - thank you. We are incredibly grateful.

It has been a privilege to see this old stable become a place for people to gather, celebrate and connect, while honouring the history and spirit of the place we love so much.

One year in, our hearts are full when we look at what The Stables at Halcyon has become and we’re excited for all that is still to come.
