What's Happening In Rosebery

The Young Tassie Scientists visit schools around Tasmania during August to celebrate National Science Week. They share their work through engaging talks and activities which can be adapted for students in grade 3 through to grade 10.

A typical visit involves three scientists arriving at your school, where they split up and give their 20-minute presentations concurrently in separate classrooms. Classes rotate between the presentations so that students get to meet three different scientists during a 70-80 minute visit.

Young Tassie Scientists visits are free thanks to funding from the University of Tasmania. Whilst we try to visit as many schools as possible each year, our visits are subject to scientist availability.

Hello my fairy friends!!!

I am super excited to announce that next weekend, Saturday 20th June, Caro's Creative Crew is sending me on a magical mission to the West Coast of Tasmania!!
While there I will be celebrating the winter solstice at not one, but TWO, amazing market events.

You will find me sharing the wonder of solstice with Facepainting and Glitter Tattoos

7 days and counting down to our EPIC 80's Karaoke night at The Top Pub Rosebery. With your favourite local entertainers Shields Events and Entertainment ❤️
We have free 80's Make overs and access to make-up for those just wanting to go wild (blue eye shadow and hair glitter for days!!) just bring your hair brush 3pm-5pm.

Then from 8pm we're ready to Rock n Roll with 80's tunes and FREE 80's photobooth with our special props tub to add that special 80's touch!

✴️ Light Up the West is returning 18-21 June, with creativity, colour, community spirit and a program with something for everyone.

In Strahan, the Port to Post audio‑visual installation will once again illuminate the historic Post Office whilst art exhibitions, night walks, live music and family‑friendly activities will keep you busy.

🥶 The annual Strahan Solstice traditions are back - a plunge into the icy waters of Macquarie Harbour to raise funds for Speak Up Stay Chatty, and the early morning solstice swim at West Strahan Beach.

👌 Zeehan and Rosebery are also gearing up to join the celebration, with local businesses and community groups planning markets, live music and other community activities.

West Coast Council is proud to support the event again this year, through the In-Kind Assistance Program and the West Coast Visitor Information Centre extending its opening hours.

Light Up the West is a great opportunity to explore, connect, and celebrate what makes our region extraordinary, even in the coldest months.
