Tonight I’m celebrating the vote of The City of Armadale councillors to include LGBTQIA+ people in the Armadale Community Development Strategy 2026-2031. 🌈
This strategy sets out how the City will work with our community over the next five years, covering everything from early childhood development, young people, seniors, disability access and inclusion, and culturally diverse communities, through to volunteering, community grants, financial hardship, homelessness, community safety, and finally LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
LGBTQIA+ residents are part of Armadale’s families, workplaces, schools, sporting clubs, community groups, and neighbourhoods.
For many simply being open about their identity can still feel unsafe, whether in public spaces or sometimes even within their own families. That’s why this commitment is so important!
I’m celebrating a step forward for inclusion, visibility, and belonging.
I’m so grateful to everyone who spoke up, supported this work, and helped ensure that Armadale is a community where every voice matters!
