Do the thing that scares you…
“Funnily enough, my PCR journey started behind the camera.
I was creating content at one of the PCR events and remember thinking, “This looks really cool.” I’d never boxed before, so it felt like something I’d watch, not something I’d ever do.
Not long after, I decided to give boxing a go. As I kept training, Glenn started talking to me about PCR, and every time he mentioned it, my immediate thought was, “There’s no way I could get in a ring.”
Eventually, I realised that’s exactly why I needed to do it.
I wasn’t just signing up for a fight—I was proving to myself that I could do something that genuinely scared me.
The journey taught me so much more than boxing. It taught me that fear feels biggest before you’ve done the thing. Once you step through it, you realise you’re capable of far more than you gave yourself credit for.
Walking into the ring was one of the most nerve-wracking moments of my life, but also one of the proudest. Not because everything went perfectly, but because I didn’t let fear make the decision for me.
Looking around and seeing my parents, friends and the people who had supported me throughout the journey in the crowd made it even more special. Having them there, cheering me on as I faced one of my biggest fears, is something I’ll never forget. It reminded me that sometimes the people who believe in us help us find the courage to believe in ourselves.
PCR absolutely served the purpose I hoped it would. It reminded me that so many of the things we believe we “can’t” do are simply things we haven’t done yet. Sometimes the biggest win isn’t the result—it’s having the courage to step through the ropes in the first place. 🥊”
