A MORNING FORAGE

Foraging is apart of how I run my business. There. I’ve said it.

I source a lot of foliage and extra flowers from foraging.

For me foraging includes cutting (with permission) from other gardens and occasionally cutting on public land.

I always forage responsibly- I never take too much, leave some for the bees and others, never damage the plants I take from and try to prevent the spread of weeds into new locations by not cutting unknown seed heads and disposing of any waste and cut offs in the green bin.

I love the wildness these bits help me create in my arrangements. How it gives me design ideas. I love how it keeps me in touch with the seasons, it’s guaranteed fresh as fresh and I love feeling rich because this is where I live and what I love to do.

EVOLUTION OF A FOAM FREE WEDDING ARBOR

Being able to offer flowers that last, look good and can be used for your WHOLE event is something I am so passionate about.

I want you to absolutely get your money’s worth out of them and enjoy them- not just for your ceremony.

Designing arbor pieces like I do- creating the arrangements into vessels makes moving them possible.
Decorate your cake table, adorn your wedding party table or perfect on your bar! It really is a no brainer!

INSPIRATION ANYWHERE

This crazy, bright funky flower donkey is the perfect example of how anything can be inspiration and combined with the best seasonal blooms and a touch of styling it’s hard to go wrong!

My parents are currently in Santorini, enjoying the food, the views and watching the donkeys climb up and down from the harbor, ferrying bags and passengers on their nimble legs.

My garden is giving me an abundance of bright yellow and orange blooms at the moment, and this little donkey is sitting at the front door, waiting to hold some plants.

Combined with some empty sour cream tubs and chicken wire and you get this super fun arrangement that would look stunning on one of those cafe tables overlooking all the white and blue houses that Santorini is so well known for.

MUMMA RUN BUSINESS

Perhaps it’s because its school holidays and I’m in the midst of my first wedding of spring, but being a mumma and running a small wedding floristry business is pretty special.

I love where I’m at. One day I will aspire to be bigger and fuller and busier in this business. But at the moment, being able to create wedding flowers while my boys play at my feet is just the best.

Being a mum who doesn’t have to work full time but still gets to do something out of “just” being a mum is such an amazing gift. I am so lucky. And every couple who books me helps support me and my family in so many different ways.

So thank you to you all.

And next time you come across a mum run business in this world of social media- spare a second to comment, like or share. Cause the support means we get to keep doing this thing called life with our little ones watching from nearby.

GARDEN WEEKENDS

Fitting in EVERYTHING (life, appointments, mum stuff, house tidy/clean and wedding work) into 2 days kid free is difficult. But with the warmer weather, my boys growing and not as busy weekends I was able to spend time in the garden.

Pottering, doing put off projects, weeding (always), and observing my garden while the kids “helped” or played beside me was wonderful.

We have been in this house 4 1/2 years now, and each year I learn and grow more.

I grow a little of everything in our space and adding it into my wedding work is one of the greatest joys. But in between weddings, having flowers to play with and gift is such a gift to myself- I love it.

And even better- my boys are learning to love it too
