💐🕯️♥️💐 Some weddings leave footprints on your heart… and today was one of them. 💐🕯️♥️💐
When most people hear the word “wedding”, they think of joy, laughter, and celebration — and while all of that was present today, it was wrapped in something deeper… something sacred.
This morning, I had the privilege of officiating an intimate and emotional ceremony for a beautiful and extraordinary young couple, Michael and Meryem.
Michael is terminally ill. When they reached out just two weeks ago, we began the urgent process of applying for a shortening of time so they could be legally married today. Nothing could have prepared me for the wave of emotion that filled the space.
As they exchanged vows, my voice trembled, my hands shook and yet… when I looked at them their strength, their peace, their quiet joy, I was moved beyond words.
The phrase “for better, for worse… in sickness and in health” carried a weight I will never forget.
Today, as a Celebrant, I saw love through a very different lens, one that wasn’t grand, but in depth, courage, and truth. It reminded me that this calling isn’t just about weddings… it’s about honouring the gift of Life & Love that shows up in life’s most tender, fragile moments.
Love that stands tall in the face of adversity.
Love that says, “I choose you — today, and every day we are given.”
I broke down when they left, feeling deeply humbled, privileged, and forever grateful!
This is why I do what I do.
To Michael and Meryem, thank you for allowing me to witness your incredible love. Your love, courage and commitment will stay with me forever.♥️
