Fire Rips Through Tyre Factory

A tyre and wheel business has become the latest target of a suspected arson attack after flames tore through a factory on Greens Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Fire Rescue Victoria and CFA (Country Fire Authority) crews were called to Auto Tyre & Wheels Centre, Factory 1, 147–153 Greens Road, Dandenong South, following a Triple Zero Victoria call from a passer-by at about 2.17am on Wednesday 2 September 2026.

Firefighters arrived to find a blaze burning at the approximately 535m2 tyre business, prompting a multi-agency response. Several FRV and CFA appliances attended as crews worked to contain and extinguish the structure fire.

The business’s current owners are understood to have leased the premises only on 16 July 2026, less than two months before the fire.

Victoria Police are investigating the cause of the blaze and whether the premises was deliberately targeted.

Prominent Australian crime-scene reporter and photographer Lord Murray Schoorman was deployed to the scene in the early hours, where he observed Fire Rescue Victoria’s Fire Investigation Unit [FIU] crews working alongside arson chemists and Victoria Police detectives.

The investigation widened when the owner of a neighbouring business approached police to report apparent signs of forced entry at their factory’s front door. Detectives attended and visually inspected the door, lock and roller shutter of that business.

Public company records reveal the business name is registered to AHMADZAI GROUP PTY LTD, a company incorporated on 24 June 2024. An Instagram post identifies Inayat Ahmadzai as the business owner which is later confirmed in an online Google review, while phone contact details listed on the business website and its domain registration itself appear connected to Nematullah Ahmadzai.
No suggestion of wrongdoing has been made against either individual.

At this stage, detectives are working to establish whether the incident was a targeted attack, an attempted break-in that escalated, or a random act of destruction. Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from Greens Road around the time of the fire is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.

More than 30 firefighters rushed to a fully engulfed home in Lalor before dawn today, Thursday 27 August 2026, battling flames from inside the property as part of the roof collapsed and complicated urgent search efforts.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews were called to 1 Avondale Road about 5:55am after receiving several reports of a house fire. The first crews arrived within four minutes to find the single-storey brick house completely involved in fire.

The seriousness of the blaze prompted an immediate escalation to a second alarm response, with five pumpers, an aerial appliance, a rescue unit and three further specialist vehicles sent to the scene under the command of Commander Luke Whitmore.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus launched an internal attack on the fire while other crews worked to stop flames from spreading to neighbouring homes.

A primary search was carried out through much of the damaged house, but firefighters could not safely enter the rear section after part of the roof collapsed. No person was found during the initial search, though a comprehensive examination was planned once conditions allowed.

The fire was declared under control at 6:26am. Firefighters set up a fire duty and remained at the property to extinguish lingering hot spots and secure the severely damaged structure.

Later in the day, firefighters completed a secondary search and confirmed that no one was inside the home or otherwise unaccounted for.

The cause of the fire is not known. Fire Rescue Victoria’s Fire Investigation Unit [FIU] has commenced an investigation.

West Footscray Tobacconist Destroyed in Pre-Dawn Fire

Thirty firefighters rush to contain fierce blaze at Sunshine Road shopping strip as specialist investigators and police begin probe

Cloud Nine Tobacconist in West Footscray has been ravaged by a spectacular pre-dawn fire, with firefighters racing to stop flames from engulfing neighbouring businesses along Sunshine Road.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews were called to Cloud Nine Tobacconist, at 179 Sunshine Road, shortly after 4am on Wednesday 26 August 2026 following several reports of a shop fire.

Crews arrived within four minutes to find the business fully involved in flames, triggering an immediate escalation of the emergency response.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus moved into the smoke-choked scene as they battled the blaze and worked to prevent it spreading through the adjoining shops in the tightly packed commercial strip.

Occupants from a neighbouring premises were safely evacuated and were due to be assessed by Ambulance Victoria. These neighbouring premises have CCTV cameras pointed towards the street so no doubt Police will be interested in viewing that footage soon.

The fire was declared under control at 5:20am, but fire duty crews remained at the scene throughout the morning to extinguish hotspots and ensure the fire could not reignite.

The operation drew a major response, with five pumpers, an aerial appliance, a rescue unit and three other specialist units dispatched. About 30 firefighters attended under the command of Senior Station Officer Justin Farina.

The cause of the fire bombing has not been determined. Fire Rescue Victoria specialists and Victoria Police will investigate the circumstances surrounding the blaze, but at this stage investigators have been told an unknown offender was seen throwing an object into the premises.

It is believed the offenders fled in a stolen Toyota RAV4 brandishing false registration plates, which was located dumped nearby on Sredna Street, as well as a white Honda CRV which remains outstanding.

The Toyota was stolen from Lara Railway Station on 9 August 2026.

The badly fire-damaged premises will form part of the investigation scene as authorities work to establish how the inferno began.

Famous crime-scene photographer Lord Murray Schoorman, of Peak Hour Images, attended the scene as the full scale of the destruction emerged in the morning light, under police crime scene guard.

Online public records indicate the parent company "Cloud 9 Tobacconist Pty Ltd" was established on 15 October 2022, and lists Khaled Nasser as its sole director. However, the business is understood to be operated by Mohamed Taleb. Both men were unavailable for comment at the scene on Wednesday morning.

No injuries had been confirmed at the time of publication.

Today, we gather not only to mourn the passing of Dolly Parton, but to celebrate a woman whose voice, generosity and sparkling spirit reached far beyond the stages on which she performed.

Dolly was one of those rare people who seemed to belong to the whole world. From the hills of Tennessee to concert halls, homes and hearts across Australia, she carried a warmth that could make even the largest audience feel as though she were speaking directly to them. Her music told stories of love, hardship, resilience, faith and hope, stories that were honest, unforgettable and deeply human.

Born into poverty in rural Tennessee, Dolly never forgot where she came from. She turned the struggles of her early life into songs of extraordinary beauty and strength. Across a career spanning more than six decades, she became a global country music icon, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, actor, author, businesswoman and humanitarian. She gave the world classics including Jolene, Coat of Many Colors, 9 to 5, Here You Come Again and, of course, I Will Always Love You, a song whose message of devotion and grace will live on for generations.

Yet Dolly’s greatness was never confined to her success. She understood that fame meant little unless it could be used to lift others. Through her Imagination Library, she placed books into the hands of children, giving young minds the chance to discover wonder, possibility and the lifelong gift of reading. In doing so, she created a legacy not simply heard in song, but held in the hands of millions of children around the world.

For Lord Murray Schoorman, then known simply as Murray Schoorman, one particularly treasured memory came during Dolly’s visit to Melbourne on 11 February 2014. She was in Australia for her Blue Smoke World Tour, and the visit also helped launch the local spirit of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, an initiative close to her heart and devoted to sharing children’s books with young minds.

Lord Murray had the great pleasure of meeting Dolly up close and personal at the media call that day. It was a moment that revealed exactly what so many people loved about her: her genuine kindness, her open-hearted generosity and her wonderful sense of fun. He recalls her personally signing a copy of her book, Our Island, before presenting it to one of the children seated beside him, in the front row.

It was a simple gesture, perhaps, but it spoke volumes. Dolly did not merely talk about inspiring children; she took time to make a child feel seen, valued and special. That was her magic. She had an immense public presence, yet she never lost the personal touch.

And then there was her humour, sharp, self-aware and absolutely brilliant. Dolly could light up a room with one line. Her famous quip, “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!” captured her perfectly: glamorous, fearless, playful and always in on the joke. She showed the world that femininity could be bold, beauty could be joyful, and laughter could be a form of strength.

Dolly Parton taught us that we need not be hardened by hardship, diminished by doubt, or silenced by the expectations of others. She showed us that compassion is powerful, that generosity can change lives, and that a song, sung sincerely, can travel farther than we ever imagine.

Today, as we say farewell, we remember her not only as a superstar, but as a giver of hope; not only as a songwriter, but as a storyteller of people’s lives; not only as a performer, but as a woman of tremendous grace.

May her music continue to comfort us. May her books continue to inspire children. May her laughter continue to echo wherever people gather to remember her. And may we carry forward the kindness, courage and joy that Dolly Parton gave so freely to the world.

Firebombed After Ram Raids: West’s Double Shopfront Attack

A brazen double ram raid has terrorised Melbourne’s west, with offenders allegedly smashing into two suburban businesses before setting them alight in a fast-moving early-morning crime spree.

Just after 2am on Tuesday 25 August 2026, a vehicle was allegedly reversed into the Ginifer convenience store at 1 Willaton Street, St Albans, ripping into the shopfront before the premises was set on fire.

The store, which is known for selling v**es, suffered smoke and fire damage as witnesses watched two vehicles arrive and leave together in convoy.

Staff at the nearby railway station called Triple Zero Victoria and raised the alarm and Fire Rescue Victoria were on scene in minutes.

Then, about 10 minutes later, the same group is believed to have struck again, this time at a milk bar at 30 Maplewood Drive, Kings Park 3021.

A black Toyota Kluger was allegedly driven in reverse through the milk bar’s front entrance, leaving the business with significant structural damage.

Police have been told the offenders entered the damaged store, doused the area with an accelerant and ignited it. Witnesses described an explosion of flames before the fire began to peter out.

The Kluger, allegedly stolen from Kings Park on Sunday and displaying stolen number plates, was left abandoned amid the damage at the milk bar.

The offenders are believed to have escaped in a second vehicle, described as a light-coloured 4WD.

Peak Hour Images chief crime reporter and famous photographer Lord Murray Schoorman attended both scenes as forensic investigators commenced their work.

Detectives from Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit are now investigating whether the two attacks are linked and whether they form part of a wider pattern of recent suspicious fires.

The Ginifer railway station had CCTV cameras across the road from the v**e and to***co convenience shop so there is no doubt that footage will form part of the Police investigation. At the other scene it was noted that the milk bar and adjoining driveway was rigged with several CCTV cameras on each corner of the building.

At the Kings Park milk bar, a man known as Ibrahim Hussein told gathered media he and his associates did not want to appear “in the news”, saying they were scared. Hussein and the group were spoken to by police investigators. It remains unclear how they are connected to the business.

Factory Inferno Shuts Down Whitehall Street

A fierce factory fire has ripped through a construction-equipment supplies business and an adjoining premises in Yarraville, sending thick smoke across the western suburbs and triggering a large-scale emergency response.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews were called to the warehouse complex at 290 Whitehall Street, on the corner of Minnie Street, just after 7pm on Monday 25 August 2026.

Firefighters arrived to find the construction clothing business and a neighbouring business engulfed in flames. The response was quickly escalated to a second alarm as additional resources were urgently required.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters initially entered the warehouse to mount an internal attack on the blaze. But escalating concerns about the structure’s stability forced crews to retreat, with the roof of the construction supplies business understood to have collapsed soon afterwards.

Two aerial firefighting appliances were then positioned outside the danger zone, directing powerful streams of water down onto the burning complex from above.

Adjoining businesses, including a nearby gym, were evacuated as smoke thickened and the fire intensified. Authorities issued a community notice warning residents and businesses of large amounts of smoke affecting the area.

After more than three hours of sustained firefighting, crews brought the blaze under control at about 10.25pm. No injuries were reported.

A fire duty was established overnight, with firefighters remaining at the scene to extinguish remaining fire, cool hot spots and monitor the damaged structures using the TIC [Thermal Imaging Camera]. A section of Whitehall Street near the warehouse remains closed to traffic.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Detectives from the Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit attended the scene on Tuesday 25 August 2026, alongside specialist fire investigators.

Fire Investigation Unit investigators from FIU-Golf were requested after crews at the scene were unable to establish a cause. However, the council’s municipal building surveyor deemed factories 1, 2 and 3 unsafe to enter, preventing investigators from conducting their usual internal examination.

Specialist Fire Rescue Victoria drone capability, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems [RPAS-2], was subsequently ordered to attend so the extent of the destruction could be assessed from the air before personnel are cleared to enter the hazardous site.

Firefighters battled a fierce garage blaze in Sunshine West on Thursday afternoon after flames erupted at a Hilma Street property and quickly spread next door.

A quiet Sunshine West street was transformed into an emergency scene on Thursday when a fully developed garage fire tore through a property at 5 Hilma Street before spreading to the neighbouring home.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews were called to the address at about 12:30pm on Thursday, 20 August 2026, arriving to find the garage at the side of the home engulfed in flames.

Within moments, the fast-moving fire had extended into the garage of the adjoining property at 3 Hilma Street, prompting a major firefighting response.

About 30 firefighters were deployed to the scene under the direction of Senior Station Officers ALLEN and CURRAN. Teleboom 44 also attended, although the aerial appliance was ultimately not required in the firefighting operation.

Crews worked to contain the blaze, protect nearby structures and search the blackened remains for personal belongings at the occupant’s request.

Power and gas supplies to the affected home were isolated as a precaution so the occupant has arranged alternative accommodation until the home can be re-energized.

Firefighters at the scene were unable to immediately determine how the fire began. Fire Investigation Unit crews, FIU-Bravo and FIU-Golf, arrived shortly before 3pm and began examining the scene to establish the cause.

No injuries were reported but Ambulance Victoria attended the scene for firefighter welfare.

Melbourne's Grande Dame Plays Host to a Titan of American Tragedy

There are nights in the theatrical calendar that transcend mere performance and ascend into the realm of civic occasion, and so it was on Thursday evening (13/08/2026) when Her Majesty's Theatre, that most venerable of Melbourne's proscenium jewels, threw open its doors once more to receive Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman Australia.

A work so thoroughly woven into the fabric of twentieth-century letters that its return to these shores constitutes something approaching a cultural pilgrimage.

Her Majesty's Theatre itself is no stranger to grandeur, nor to reinvention. Erected in 1886 and rebuilt following a catastrophic fire in 1934 in a resplendent Spanish Mission style, the venue has long served as the beating heart of Melbourne's theatrical district, its ornate facade on Exhibition Street a familiar landmark to generations of playgoers. It seemed only fitting, then, that a play so preoccupied with the erosion of grand American promise should find its stage within a building that has itself weathered destruction and been resurrected to former glory, a parallel not lost on those attuned to the poetry of venue and narrative in conversation with one another. W***y Loman's tragedy, after all, is one of faded splendour and the gap between aspiration and reality; Her Majesty's, with its own history of collapse and triumphant restoration, provides a fitting architectural echo to Miller's central lament.

The red carpet, predictably, drew Melbourne's most recognisable faces, none more magnetic than Lord Murray Schoorman, the inveterate chronicler of high society's comings and goings, whose lens has captured every dignitary of consequence to grace this city's cultural events. On this occasion, however, Lord Murray departed from his customary practice of retreating discreetly once his official photographic duties concluded, choosing instead to remain and take his seat among fellow patrons in the stalls, an “out of the ordinary” gesture that itself became a small talking point among the assembled glitterati.

Speaking exclusively when approached by the local newspaper 📰 following the curtain call, Lord Murray was unstinting in his praise. "What a captivating performance by a stellar cast," he remarked, his enthusiasm undimmed by the late hour. He is joined by Alison Whyte, along with Josh Helman and Ben O'Toole as sons Biff and Happy, a company whose collective gravitas has already earned the production comparisons to "the most amazing theatrical experience" by critics at 3AW Melbourne

For Melbourne audiences fortunate enough to secure tickets before the season's close, this is theatre of the first order, a reminder, delivered within a building that has itself known ruin and rebirth, that the American Dream's brightest promises so often cast the longest shadows.

Inferno engulfs South Kingsville home as firefighters battle relentless blaze

A ferocious inferno tore through a suburban property at 24 Greene Street, South Kingsville 3015 this afternoon, reducing a weatherboard home to smouldering ruin as firefighters waged a prolonged and arduous battle against flame, heat, and hazard.

The alarm was raised at 12:14pm, when Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews were inundated with multiple Triple Zero Victoria calls reporting a building fire on Greene Street. Even before arrival, crews reported live powerlines down out the front of the premises, then within moments of arrival, firefighters were confronted with a scene of ferocious intensity, a single-storey dwelling already fully consumed, flames roaring skyward and smoke billowing thickly into the winter air.

Clad in breathing apparatus, crews pushed into the volatile structure in a determined search for any occupants, navigating heat and instability in conditions described as extreme. Yet the severity of the blaze rendered certainty elusive; while early information suggested the homeowner was overseas, firefighters could not definitively confirm the building was unoccupied amid the chaos.

Outside, an orchestrated assault unfolded. Seven pumpers, an aerial appliance, a rescue unit and additional support vehicles converged, as 37 firefighters worked in concert under the command of Commander Joe Ferguson. Multiple hoselines were deployed in a bid not only to subdue the fire but to shield neighbouring homes from the advancing threat.

Compounding the challenge was a critical lack of readily available water, alongside the ominous presence of live powerlines stretching across the roadway, a peril demanding both precision and restraint. The local water company was requested to assist in the location of fire hydrants and water access points while the Energy authorities were urgently summoned to neutralise the electrical danger, while specialist crews were later called to undertake decontamination procedures amid concerns of asbestos exposure.

Despite the scale of the response, the house itself could not be saved. The structure has been completely destroyed, its remains now a charred testament to the fire’s destructive force.

Miraculously, no injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators will now undertake the painstaking task of determining the cause of the blaze, with the scene to be further assessed by the local building surveyor.

As dusk fell, firefighters remained on Greene Street, methodically extinguishing lingering hotspots and securing the site, a stark reminder that even as flames subside, the work is far from over.
