Here at Wonderpets Pony Parties we love animals, as you've probably already figured out. :D We love sharing our love of animals and the joy they bring to us. Our family are also passionate local wildlife rescue volunteers in our local area, helping with animals from 11g Planigales (which I bet you haven't heard of- look them up they are cool!), to koalas and wallabies.
Because we love animals, we also take the welfare and the ethics of animal keeping and training very seriously. This means not only physical care but meeting their biological and emotional needs as well. It is important to understand their needs to keep animals happy.
Animals like ponies and sheep require companionship of their own species, appropriate feed- they require almost constant high fibre food like grass or hay. Much like us, animals thrive on autonomy and freedom of choice.
Our animals are trained using positive reinforcement, this means the animal gets something they want for their efforts, they can also choose not to participate.
We do not use whips, bits, threats, pain or coercion to train our animals. They join in because it's interesting and they get good stuff.
Our principal trainer, Claire, also a force free animal trainer who works with people and their pets to create harmonious relationships.
