Did You Know?

The first Oktoberfest was held in 1810 in Munich, and it wasn’t about beer at all! 🍻 It started as a celebration for the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. Locals had such a great time with horse races, music, and food that they decided to make it an annual event.
Fast forward 200+ years, and Oktoberfest is now the largest beer festival in the world, with millions of visitors, endless steins of beer, pretzels bigger than your head, and Bavarian cheer in every tent.
👉 So when you raise your stein this Oktober, remember: it all started with a royal wedding party that got a little out of hand.

Did you know? 🤔

🔬 1816 – Carl Zeiss was born in Weimar. He went on to found the Zeiss company, revolutionising optics, lenses, and microscopes still used worldwide today.

⚖️ 1843 – Adolf Wach was born. He became a highly respected German jurist and legal scholar, shaping modern legal thought.

⚽ 1945 – Franz Beckenbauer (“Der Kaiser”) was born in Munich. He later became one of Germany’s most iconic footballers and managers, lifting the World Cup both as captain and coach.

Before Netflix, Spotify, and TikTok… there were books. And the person who made them accessible to everyone was a German! 📖 Johannes Gutenberg, a goldsmith from Mainz, invented the printing press around 1450.
His movable type printing revolutionized the spread of knowledge – no longer were books hand-copied by monks (slowly, very slowly). Instead, ideas, stories, and science could be shared with the masses.
👉 You could say Gutenberg was the original influencer – and he didn’t even need WiFi.
