Bourke band Yellowbelly delivered a powerful headline performance before a big crowd at Hungry Spirit in Lightning Ridge recently.

The concert formed part of Hungry Spirit’s open mic and headline series, created by co-founder and arts developer Rebel Black to give regional artists a dedicated audience and paid opportunities to perform.

Rebel said the property had been operating for 22 years, with Tin Camp Studios established about five years ago in partnership with Goodooga man Warren Mason.

Lightning Ridge friends… This month’s open mic event (18 July) coincides with the birthday of our dynamic friend and co-creator Rebel Black♡Community Consultant●Facilitation●Energetic Freedom. Our schedule in Sydney means we won’t be there in person, but we would love for as many people as possible to celebrate with her. Smokin M Bbq will be there.. as will Yellowbelly Bourke.. open mic opportunities abound and just look how green that grass is.. the scene is set for the honouring she deserves..

Already a month since Walgan Brenda opened the 2026 Open Mic season and the team are ready to go again tomorrow night whether they are clear or rainy skies.
So excited to have the The River Boys 4486 travelling down from Dirran..
The food packages have sold out but you are welcome to come for the music only.
Or you might like to step into the open mic pool. Thanks to Steve, that has just gone from $300 to $500 for tomorrow night.

18 months ago I got the opportunity to record an album with the support of some beautiful people. And last night a few of us had the opportunity to share some of those songs for the first time.
