Sunshine ducks! A short run in the sun.

Today’s duck lesson: they go through intense amounts of water in their cage as they splash in it all day. This weeks note to self…get a bigger water container.

Introducing the Wilde Twig Duckling! 🤩

We are not able to keep up with slug reproduction and they are creating a lot of havoc eating our seedling so we have recruited duck patrol! Follow our duckling journey….we are very new to ducks so it’s sure to be a wild ride!

As well as growing cut flowers we are caretakers of 12 acres of native bushland on our property. I’ve been doing a Diploma of Sustainable Living at UTAS and one of the units was Living With Fire. This year we are experimenting with some mosaic cool burns to manage our fire scape…..slow and low. Looking forward to tracking the results over the next couple of years!

We love our chickens, they are an important part of the nutrient and pest control cycle for our fruit, veg and flowers. They also give us very yummy eggs! They are amazing at cleaning up under fruit trees…some of them love the silverbeet a bit too much in the veg patch and fly over the fence to get to the good stuff! This little girl is particularly persistent 😂
