Last month, the Attorney General's Department introduced a new step that we Celebrants need to include when marrying couples. To get ‘real consent’ from both parties.

During interactions with couples we would naturally gain an understanding of their consent, however the AGD has now introduced more stringent obligations under the Marriage Act 1961.

This includes meeting with both parties individually, to ensure neither are being coerced or forced into marriage. It happens! Happy to chat if you need further understanding.

Not an issue, and all part of the journey to ensure a ceremony and marriage for a happy life ever after.
