Once upon a time, there was no “save the date.” Invitations were the first and only notice—sent closer to the wedding, often leaving guests scrambling to make arrangements. As travel became more common and weddings grew into full-scale celebrations, couples realised something was missing… a little heads-up.

Enter the Save the Date.

A modern addition to wedding traditions, the save the date is your early announcement—sent months in advance to give guests time to plan, book travel, and mark their calendars. It’s simple, exciting, and often the very first glimpse into your wedding style.

The Wedding Invitation 💌

Long before elegant cardstock and hand-lettered names, wedding invitations were a matter of word of mouth. In times when many couldn’t read, families would rely on town criers to announce upcoming marriages—sharing the news far and wide, ensuring the community could gather to witness the union.

As literacy grew, so did the art of the invitation. By the 17th and 18th centuries, families began sending handwritten notes to formally invite guests, often sealed with wax for authenticity and importance. It wasn’t just about the details—it was about honour, respect, and the significance of the occasion.

The real transformation came with the invention of the printing press, making invitations more accessible and beautifully consistent. Soon, they became a reflection of status and style—featuring fine paper, intricate fonts, and carefully chosen wording that followed traditional etiquette.

Today, wedding invitations are more than just a piece of paper. Whether digital or printed, minimalist or elaborate, they set the tone for the entire celebration. They give guests their first glimpse into your day—your style, your story, your love.

I had the pleasure and privilege of being a part of their beautiful day as their On The Day Coordinator.
Not only did I get to see two people celebrate their love in front of family and friends but also see an amazing group of people help bring the their wedding day dreams to life.

The Wedding Veil – a soft layer of fabric, rich in meaning, mystery, and romance.

Long before it became a delicate finishing touch, the veil held powerful symbolism. In ancient times, brides of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome wore veils—often in fiery tones—to protect themselves from evil spirits. It wasn’t just about beauty… it was believed to guard the bride as she stepped into a new chapter of life.

As traditions evolved, so did its meaning. Within Christian ceremonies, the veil became a symbol of modesty, purity, and reverence—representing a quiet, sacred moment before the bride was revealed. In other customs, it told a more complex story—of family, of transition, and of the shifting roles a woman stepped into on her wedding day.

There was a time when the veil concealed a bride’s face entirely, especially in arranged marriages. The lifting of it became a moment of significance—the first unveiling, the beginning of something new.

Today, the veil is what you choose it to be. A romantic statement, a nod to tradition, a treasured heirloom, or a simple, ethereal detail that completes the look.
