To liquor licensing officer,
I have worked in the security industry for 10 years, and been head of security at Cocktail and Dreams, Billy’s beach house, Sugar Shack, Burleigh Heads Hotel, Palm Beach Hotel, Runaway Bay Hotel, Pineapple Hotel. Personal protection to Robbie Williams in Australia, QLD State of Origin team 4 years in a row. My security license number was 3038194. This is now lapsed but I had an exemplary record.
On Saturday night 22nd November I was employed at the Base Bar as DJ. At 11:45pm when I was packing up I heard a male screaming in pain like I haven’t heard before. I proceeded to walk back into the venue for more gear and I noticed the person I believe to be head of security (approx. 5ft tall, bald head, goatee) restraining a man in a forward wrist lock. Once he had the male outside the premises he pushed him head first into a garden bed which was full of matured plants. He then proceeded to take 3 quick steps towards the male laying face down in the garden bed and throw himself on top of him and drove his knee into his rib cage. After that, I witnessed the security guard then put the males head in a lock on the ground while he kneed him a further 3 times whilst his other knee put pressure on his kidneys. At that stage, there were 2 other guards standing next to me witnessing what I witnessed. Both guards looked at me with shock. 1 guard made a slight movement to intervene but held back. After that I intervened and managed to walk the male down the street apologising to him what happened and put my arms around him and told him to ‘you didn’t deserve that and I’m very sorry that this has happened’ The male then walked off with no aggression.
From my personal experience I believe the guard knew where the blind spot was in the cameras. I know there are cameras in that area, but I am aware of no footage. My opinion is that this guard has done this several times before and I believe there is a black spot where he throws people in the garden.
I then witnessed the head of security sign off and not write a report on the night about what actually happened. I did ask the security guard to explain himself and he said he deserved to get what he did because of what he did inside. I said you are not a police officer and you do not have the right to judge and punish and hurt people. Your job is to protect people.
You can contact me regarding this via email or phone. I am also willing to make a statement to the police if there are charges to be laid.
