Happy birthday to our legend of a General Manager, Chris.

This place and this community are so lucky to have Chris, his kind spirit and many skills (and his new sidekick, Darcy 🐶 ) in our corner. A creative and a problem solver, he thinks deeply about our diverse pack of tenants and how to best meet their needs, and has the drive and the toolbox know-how to make those things (along with the Sheds many quirky maintenance tasks) happen.

All this while being the sort of delightful people person who makes you feel like he's got all the time in the world. AND he can shake a mean cocktail - come see for yourself when he opens our bar very soon (watch this space 👀)

Today marks 7 years since we did the big, audacious thing and officially launched our crowdfunding campaign searching for $2 million, asking our community (and beyond) to invest in our vision and create Australia's first community owned food hub 🍎

We wouldn't know we'd pulled it off until November, but we're all about celebrating bold moves and big ideas here (not to mention the hard work that went into getting it "go" ready) - so happy birthday to our leap of faith 🎉 Here's to many more.

It was great to meet the good folk at the Institute for Collaborative Race Research last week, who are now the new owners of a huge library of the history of magandjin's Indigenous activism. We've been keeping the library in storage for Aunty Lin who has meticulously kept records of every effort made towards First Nations sovereignty in this place.

What an honour and priviledge for us to Three Little Birds Events based at the Food Connect Shed.

This year, NAIDOC Week focuses on building a legacy for the next generation. That’s also the focus of Aboriginal chef and regular at the Food Connect Shed, Chris Jordan from Three Little Birds Events who grew up knowing very little about his own heritage. He's since made it his business to help connect young Indigenous people with their culture – through food.

This is a casual role—around 0.5 to 1 day per week—supporting both our charity (Green Fox Training Studio) and our social enterprise (Green Fox Studio).

We’re based at the Food Connect Shed in Salisbury, surrounded by other purpose-led organisations. Our work is about backing people with drive, creativity, and lived experience - we work with young people, women, and those with justice system experience who are building stronger futures for themselves and their communities.

🌻 Starting Saturday June 14th, we’re launching our first meetup of SHED CLUB. 🌻

Hands on jobs that need doing around the rusty old girl. Come along for an hour, or all day. There’ll be tunes playing and the bar will be open for post club debrief and sausage sizzle in the afternoon. Let us know if you’re keen to join in future Shed Club by DMing us 🥰
