Tasmanian couple Chantelle Pears and Matt Jackson have bought Brighton’s 1824 Stonefield Estate sight unseen from remote Western Australia and transformed it ahead of a sold-out first wedding season.
The pair, who currently live about 5,000 kilometres away, completed a six-month renovation that exposed original sandstone, created six-metre ceilings and added a bridal parlour and redesigned reception space.
Pears said buying the former wedding venue without visiting was “pretty scary”, but strong interest through documenting the renovation on Instagram has helped turn the restoration into bookings.
Their first wedding is booked for October, with 42 weddings locked in across two seasons and about 70% of the couples coming from interstate to get married there.
